The ZF Autos are used throughout the whole range, from the 1-Series hatchbacks, to the mighty Alpina and M cars!
While the hardware stays widely the same throughout all applications and is mainly divided in only 2 types (6HP19/21 and 6HP26/28 for 6-Speed, 8HP45/50/51 and 8HP70/75/76 for 8-Speed), the software inside the controller makes it possible to adapt the transmission, to every vehicle and mimic a wide range of driver styles. Smooth and comfy in the Luxury applications, the same transmission can be tweaked to deliver snap-on take-off behavior, surprisingly fast shift times and even race-style throttle blips on downshifts.
Tweaking your transmission is not only about getting quicker, or holding more power. An automatic transmission is deeply involved into vehicle dynamics and contributes very much to the overall driving experience. From crawling in traffic, over city driving, to taking your vehicle to the drag strip or a race track, the TCU widely defines how your car feels. Like everyone drives different with a manual, the maps inside the TCU hide the secrets to tweak your automatic transmission to your personal likings and finally experience what was once promised in the glossy brochure: Sheer driving pleasure!

Transformed My Driving Experience
2012 BMW X5 40d (UK RHD E70 LCI model with 8-speed)
Flashed TCU to xHP Stage 2.
Researched thoroughly and made sure I knew what to expect and took all the precautions mentioned in instructions.
Procedure worked right first time.
Drive-mode is now a much more relaxing experience. Gone are the stumbling fumbling laggy wrong gears. My truck now chooses the right gear and stays with it. No fuss. No unexpected early changes. No anxiety anticipating a manual intervention. A smoother drive with decisive uneventful gear changes. Smarter and sharper without being harsh. I will use drive-mode more often than I did before.
Sport-mode is similarly improved. Only with more urgency.
Manual-mode is absolutely great. Changes again are decisive without jarring. No longer any dither or delay. Shift points appear wider so my gear choice is held longer until I am really very stupid. No more unexpected changes down in a turn. I feel in complete control, which was not the case under standard BMW tune.
This has vastly improved my driving experience and we have even added any power yet!

Brilliant bit of kit!
Was advised to buy this by the guy who services my car to bring the transmission inline with the engine. I didn’t really think there was an issue beforehand but until you install this or drive performance cars on a regular basis you’d never get it. I didn’t.
The difference afterwards is night and day, no lag, sharp but smooth changing of the gears. Display now lets you know what gear you’re in etc. I installed stage 1 for a week and I’ve had stage 2 for about 3 days now and they’re different. Going S3 at the weekend and can’t wait. Brilliant XHP. Best mod for your sports auto
Great customer service
After lots of research I decided to go for a gearbox remap from RBT Tuning on my M235i. Loving the Stage 3, it has really improved the driving experience.
When I first tried to connect the app the the purchased xHP ODBC tool, I kept getting a connection failed. I’d followed all the instructions to the letter.
I contacted support, and Semin replied within the hour. After several email exchanges I was asked if I had anything else connect to the CAN. I have an after market CarPlay. After being advised to disconnect this, it worked straight away.
At all times my emails/questions were answered promptly, in detail and I felt as though Semin really wanted to help.
