Ratings and Reviews
Keeps going off line
Started off fabulous but last few months it’s been cutting out app keeps telling me no hearing aid having constantly switch Bluetooth off and on again a real pain as when a call comes in can’t say call back hearing aid need resetting?!!! Not very impressed with it it’s causing me a lot of stress
Good, but could be so much more ...
I’ve used this app for the best part of five years.
Pros:
Mute function really simple and quick - I use ear defenders when using machinery, so switching on/off external mic is essential to stop feedback whilst still being able to stream music & audiobooks.
Comfort in noise function works quite well.
Customising the the mic direction is a good feature for environments like car and outdoors (so you can hear people behind you).
External mic control for different programs is very useful. For example: reducing external noise for phone streaming.
Music streaming is exceptional (although that’s a function of the iPhone & hearing aid and you don’t need the app to do it).
Cons:
Connectivity is erratic. Bluetooth needs switching on & off many times a day to get the aids to connect to the app & the iPhone. Luckily that’s fairly simple on the iPhone.
App crashes too often.
Soundspace used to be quick and easy to access, so you could make swift and discreet adjustments in new environments. In the more recent updates you have to create a memory before launching ... a real backwards step.
Soundspace is more of a gimmick than the really effective audio adjuster it could be.
All in all I use the app every day, but it could be so much better.
Almost perfect
This is really a review of the hearing aids.
The sound is perfect. I never wore my NHS Oticon much, as it made my voice far too intrusive. I was also very aware, physically, that I was wearing them. They also fell out easily.
The Starkey gives a perfect sound balance.
I also forget I am wearing them and they fit very securely.
Streaming via the app is a great feature but
I occasionally get BT connection clicks.
I do though have a major issue.
The app ignores the iPhone side speaker mute button.
All sound, including ring tones, go to the ear. This is really bad.
Two suggestions:
1) The app should mute all ring and alert sounds if the side button is in mute position. Vibrate gives me the necessary.
2) There should be a mute button on the app front window, similar to the ear mute.
It is not practicable to turn off alerts, and also turn off ring sound via iPhone settings each time I want (private) silence.
I was interrupted during a singing audition by incoming email sounds. I was the only one who knew!
Turning off bluetooth does the job simply, but then the buttons do not connect to the other ear.
