Pretty useless due to poor design
On the surface this app seems quite a nice way to centralise your health data and the club leaderboard feature is a fun way to motivate yourself. However it seems to have some really basic design issues. To start off with it doesn’t read your health data so although it’s saying it’s got access to Apple health none of that is reflected on the app, that’s pretty annoying if my daily moves is generally in excess of 1500 calories a day and none of that is reflected. To add perspective I gave the app access to Apple health on day one for which it put all my Apple health data on the app, however every day following that no data comes up on the app. Pretty useless. Another problem is it’s generally poor design where you can click on certain things and literally nothing comes up at all, just a nice white screen. If Nuffield invested a bit more cash in to the app design rather than advertising it this could be a highly functional and fun addition to your gym membership. As it stands however it’s in a major need of a design overhaul + competent programming
Not very refined
This app records workouts okay, but there are so many irritating issues.
1. Logging in. Every time I open the app, I have to log in and select my club. It doesn’t take long, but is so irritating.
2. Setting weights. I regularly use the same equipment and like to log it as part of my workout. Why can’t this app remember the weights I used the last time?
3. More setting weights. When you set the weights on activities, it automatically gives you two sets at 10 reps each. When you change the reps and weight on one of these sets, you have to do it for the other. After that you can add new sets with the same setting as the first. Why not just start off with one set and a plus button?
4. Lack of exercises. Sometimes I want to log exercises that are not included. These aren’t even unusual exercises. For example, how can I add a deadlift or clean or press or clean and press, when using free weights. Maybe I’m missing something, but I’ve looked, and if the options are there, they are not easy to find.
If it wasn’t for the fact that I had to use this app for logging my workouts at the gym, I wouldn’t bother!
Inexcusably bad
I’ve been a member of a Nuffield Health gym for 2 years and this app has gradually got worse over time. There appears to be zero maintenance carried out, as there have been no updates during that time. Clearly, what you need from a fitness app is something that both accurately records the amount of calories burned and what exercises you have carried out. This app does neither of those things. It frequently fails to sync with apple health or record your exercise, or worse still, it duplicates what you’ve done and doubles everything up, making it impossible to accurately track progress and achievements. The ‘records’ section of the app is hit and miss. Sometimes it records new PBs, other times it doesn’t. To make matters worse, the app frequently signs you out and crashes. It is the most unreliable app on my phone and is one of the reasons that I am now cancelling my gym membership. If Nuffield Health cannot be bothered to invest in their app and maintain it, why should I bother to remain a member of their gym? Taking my business elsewhere.
