Description

The Nix Toolkit is the new all-in-one companion app for our Nix Sensor device line-up. It’s compatible with all Nix Mini, Nix Pro, Nix QC, and Nix Spectro devices. Functions in the app will be turned on and off depending on which device you have connected.

Functions include:
1. “Single scan” (available for all devices)
2. “Premium databases” (available for all devices)
3. “Create and share custom library (Compatible with Nix Pro, Spectro and QC devices only)
4. “Multipoint average scanning for all tools”
5. "Nix Paints feature"
6. "Nix Quality Control feature"

The “Single scan” function displays digital values (CIELAB, HEX, and RGB) and Spectral curve on swipe (Spectro device only) when you scan a sample with your Nix Color Sensor.

Premium databases offer paid subscriptions to world-class color libraries (including Pantone, RAL, and NCS). Once subscribed you can browse the entire library, and scan and match to the closest color.

The Nix Toolkit app lets you take control of how you perceive color. Select from dark or light mode, or use your own system settings.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’d love to help with whatever questions or issues you have. Please note that a free account is required to use the app (you will be prompted to create one when you first open the app). A Nix device (Mini, Pro, QC, or Spectro) is required to unlock app functions.

Good, but the UI really needs work

This is nice app with a poor user interface. Once you figure out how it does things, it’s good, but the learning curve is steep because it does not follow iOS UI conventions at all. It’s like a PC app from the 1980’s.

Nix, give the UI a complete overhaul, and this time, make it easier to figure out how to scan for color values, how to match to a paint brand, and how to save and export both types of data. Then you’d have a real winner. Right now, I’d hesitate to recommend the Nix Mini to my friends.

Really?

I purchased the Nix 2 as a gift for my wife. She was the color coordinator in our household. I thought this might be a useful and fun tool. She never used it.... Today I needed to determine a match color for a ceiling repair at one of our homes. I decided to try and use the Nix to determine a match. I cannot authoritatively determine if the scanner is accurate but I can say the Nix Utility software is useless and unintuitive. Despite knowing the paint brand we use (Sherwin Williams), I was provided at least a dozen choices based on my scan. Useless! On balance, this was a wasted $100 "stocking stuffer." I may try this one more time on an exterior project. If I glean any useful information from the second effort, I will update my rating and review. At this point, Buyer Beware.....

total bomb

Just like other reviewers, this is basically a worthless app. I never experienced the old one, but I’ve been using this more or less successfully for a few weeks now and was almost getting comfortable with its many failings including needing to re-pair my scanner with my phone virtually every time I used it and the relatively large number of button-presses required to get it to scan again, and its cumbersome and unintelligible system for remembering colors.

Now today the dang app won’t even boot up, just constantly “downloading paints database .” And this is with the latest update. Terrible.
