Pretty bad app
The app is incredibly janky and unpolished. I can overlook that if it worked as expected. Every time I connect to my bike, it says there’s a firmware upgrade. But going through the process fails every time. At best it just errors. At worst, it gets caught in a perpetual loop that require me to uninstall the app. It says it supports the stationary desk bike but the app only syncs treadmill distance and calories to Apple Health. It doesn’t sync work out or bike distance to the app so nothing helpful gets recorded. I still have to start an indoor bicycling workout on my watch to track the workout.
I’ve sent emails to lifespan and they said their developer is aware. But considering there hasn’t been an update in 6 months, I imagine they don’t have a developer for this. Probably fired them and hopefully hiring a replacement and building a third app to replace this second one.
No stars do not recommend
I have both the bike and under desk treadmill, thankfully, I bought the controller for the treadmill and don’t have to rely entirely on an app to use. The bike, is quickly becoming a paperweight. I could deal with the app and how clunky it was, as long as it worked. Now that it is down and little acknowledgement from Lifespan about that, it seems pretty unlikely a fix will come soon. My guess is a disgruntled employee did this on the way out the door and there is zero clue on how to recover. The website gives you no indication that you could buy a device now, and have zero chance of actually using it. It sounds like from reviews it has been a week at least with no solution or timeline for a fix. This sounds like a failing manufacturer if there ever was one.
It’s so bad
After paying for a nice treadmill for under my desk that advertises the ability to bt sync data, it thought it would be able to port a few numbers over easily.
Initially, I was able to set up the app and stumble through how to sync data to my phone. It did not automatically sync, it was not user friendly.
After a few days it has logged me out of the app and I’m not able to get back in. This is the error message I get:
“Internet issues
When fetching the latest version number, there was a network issue. Please ensure you have the latest version to protect your own interests.” Per the App Store there is no newer version. It’s not helpful.
