I don’t get it. I simply don’t get it.
Audi with its global reach and access to a wealth of resource, knowledge and wisdom, still can not deliver an app to connect and function as it should. Since the purchase and install of a front and rear camera system at my local dealership I have not been able to use this app to connect with with my UTR. It is so poor that even the Audi engineer admitted how abysmal the app was. For the last two months I’ve been trying to connect to the camera system to configure it as it still in the same mode it was installed. Every single attempt gets an unable to connect dialogue. It’s depressing. The point that really need’s highlighting here is that this behaviour is being shared by users online and appears to have been going on for a number years. One doesn’t have to look far to find these frustrated Audi community websites. But no-one is listening it seems! I have ow given up. I have taken steps to secure a refund. I am more than happy to return the hardware and for Audi to make good my Vehicle pre install.
I’m sure others have a different experience, however I would not recommend this app. Is there anyone at Audi prepared to own this epic disappointment, also know as Audi UTR?
This software is poor
Does anyone actually test this software before releasing it? (I mean testing it in the real world where most of us live and not in a laboratory.)
This app update includes a firmware update, the main purpose of which is to correct the video overlay which, when the speed was displayed in kph it was fine, but when it was displayed in mph the read out was exactly 2.5 times the actual speed. I kid you not. When travelling at 30mph the video read 75mph. Try taking that into court as evidence! I would have thought a tester would have spotted that glaring error. I spotted it in 5 minutes.
So, the good news is that the speed display is now fixed. The bad news is that it took over an hour to do the firmware upgrade because once installed (about 6minutes) the app refused to re-connect to the phone. After resetting the phone and restarting the app numerous times, I had to delete the app and re-install it because even though the Wi-fi and app passwords matched, the app said they didn’t, and if you haven’t got a Wi-fi connection established between the phone and the app you can’t make any changes to the app settings to establish that link. Catch22!
As far as the app is concerned: no change as far as I can see. It’s still reluctant to connect, you still can’t adjust the settings without a Wi-fi connection between app, phone and camera.
I would have though Audi could have done better. Much better.
Doesn’t show correct date format...
***Update: New update does not change the time stamp format. Still shows the date in USA date format. Month / Date / Year.
***Shout out at the app developer, please sort this out as soon as possible, the date needs to be in UK format. Date / Month / Year.
It’s has beautiful hardware, with a nice high quality app, to control and view all recorded footage. However this app experience fails are they’re is no way to view your footage via the internet or via a cloud storage options.
Also the footage time stamp doesn’t show the correct date format, as it shows the month first then the date, and year. So it’s hard to use any recordings as proof as you need to explain to your insurance or police that the format date is back to front. Also the time stamp is very small and not re-sizeable to be more sharper. No options to change this, however a future app update may resolve this.
When viewing video footage ‘rear’ camera, no time stamp is evident.
I’m now opting to swap my Audi front and rear dash cams with Blackvue alternatives. Better functionality as well correct time stamp features. Also has iCloud storage as well as timestamp shown on video footage as it shows both on playback. Shame Audi’s dash cams look amazing but i’m now past the branding issue over functionality and features.
Overall its a nice app lacking key features.
