The App’s share function used to wirelessly download files degrades the quality to the point they are unusable. Recently downloaded a 316mb file (front & back views) but App ‘prepares’ to just 80mb in size which was fuzzy and unable to read any number plates or even large sign writing on vans when viewing
Only way to get a good quality recording downloaded is to remove microSD card and copy direct on laptop.

The file size is automatically reduced when encoding. Normally, this does not result in a great loss of quality.

Despite the negative reviews, I have found the BMW front and rear dash cam to work really well and it does give piece of mind. I think most of the negativity is based on the fact that you cannot access the app unless the ignition in the car is on, which when you think about it, makes sense but that is why I have given 4 stars instead of 5. I got mine fitted at a BMW dealership with no issues. The app connected immediately and today, I was able to download some videos to my phone without issue. Was fun to see all the activity that goes on, including me taking the bins out! I think that the negative reviews are because people haven’t read what the functionality of the cam actually is and expect to be able to log in on the app and have a look around, that would be cool, but it’s simply not advertised as that. As a user manual geek, I’m happy with the instructions and the product. Highly recommend for all BMW owners.

Reading a lot of negative reviews but noticed most of them follow a few common threads. Incompatible with CarPlay and a June 2020 issue causing the cameras to require a manual firmware update.

My experience, not having CarPlay, has been very good. The app is reliable, a bit slow, and I have no problems with the hardware that was fitted by Snows Mini. The Windows client is way more useful for viewing journeys but the app is great for the odd Parking Event recording and setting up the system with the right options.

The documentation doesn’t mention the maximum size of SD card however so I would like to find that out. I’m assuming it could be 128Gb? The supplied SD card is a little small for having parking mode on 24/7 on a busy street.

Regarding your SD card request: We only recommend using the enclosed microSD card, as this MLC (Multi Layer Card) is of the highest quality with at least 10,000 write cycles and has "Class 10" write speed. You can try it with a bigger SD card with the same specifications on your own risk.
