Ratings and Reviews
Too fancy
I think QQ has too many functions that are fancy yet of little use. This is OK because it has different setting and different users compared to WeChat, however, when I want to use the normal functions of QQ, these pop-ups and expressions cannot be avoided, and it makes a simple process difficult.
Be careful
It’s difficult to sign up for an account as a foreigner. It only worked once I had a Chinese account on the app at the same time. About a week later it banned my account with a vague reason as to why (something about breaking their account sign up conditions).
I’ve looked it up and lots of foreigners have had this issue. It’s probably because I used a UK phone number but I find that weird because it has a list of different country codes for the phone number when you set it up.
The way to recover the account required a Chinese ID, even though it knows I signed up with a British phone number not a Chinese one so basically I couldn’t access my account.
Anyway it’s been over a month and it’s still blocked even though the message it came up with said it was a temporary freeze. If you need to contact people in China use WeChat it’s a lot better and I’ve heard that more people use it.
English?
What’s happened why is there no translation into English for this app? It’s now impossible to sign in because it’s in Chinese – so unless you actually speak Chinese it’s a complete waste of time.
