Best free app for pixel art

I have been doing pixel art for a few months and have tried several apps. I found Pixel Studio to offer the best functionality for free. I was able to make static and animated art commissions while on free version. The app is very resilient, meaning it perfectly preserves the state of all your open canvases when you close the app and I never experienced loss of work - which I unfortunately cannot say for the other free app I used, Pixilart. The only thing missing from Pixel Studio for me is the ability to change the type of a layer (to Overlay, Multiply etc.) and, perhaps, being able to apply gradient to a diagonal line/as a bucket fill to a shape. The ui could probably be a bit more user-friendly; I have accidentally cleared a frame as well as deleted a finished project (which I had not apparently saved) because I wasn’t being careful with my clicks. Another nice-to-have would be having imported images be automatically resized to the working canvas. Also, I am not sure the palette import function is working correctly. But I am happy with the app overall. I just upgraded to the pro version to take my work over to my ipad. I am also happy to support the developer for offering such a comprehensive app for free, especially since the payment is a one-off and not a subscription. Thanks, Oleg!

Finally, a good pixel art program

Ok, my expectations were low. I’ve been searching a long time for a good program to make pixel art, but all the ones I’ve tried have been clunky or just plain frustrating to use. But THIS. This app is exactly what I’ve been looking for. The controls are far more sophisticated than any other free program I’ve tried, but aren’t confusing or difficult to get used to. It allows you to expand the canvas while you’re still working on it- which sounds like a small thing but man, I wish more art programs had that. The free version of this app (without any in-app purchases) still feels very fleshed out, not like you’re being cut off from a bunch of features like in other apps. I ended up buying the premium version anyway though, just to support the developers a bit. Bless the people (person?) who made this, I’ve been wanting to get into pixel art for many years but it took downloading this app to let me really enjoy pixel art.

Best pixel art making app on iOS

This app, in my opinion is the best app to use for pixel art on an iOS device, good for burning time if your bored somewhere or just to make cool art, although there is one issue I have experienced and it’s kind of annoying, I will often use the reference feature to add a photo to the background, but the photo easily moves around if you miss tap or drag it, this makes tracing photos onto a high resolution pixel canvas hard as you can accidentally move the image and you have to spent a long time re-putting the image back to its original place, I would like any solution as long as it fixes this problem, weather it’s a reference lock or a photo snapping option, all is good, other than that, amazing app!!
