Easy to use and no issues

I really do not understand why there is so many negative reviews. I’ve been using the App since June 2023 and it does everything I need. Yes there’s probably additional functionality that could be added but I can’t think of anything at the moment. I assume the negative reviews are from an early version as these are complaining of things missing that are actually there. It could also be user error.

Oh it’s working again! Oh wait no…

Update 2/2/24
Worked for ten days after the app update, but now the car is again failing to connect to the server. Worse, this means Octopus energy can’t tell if the car is plugged in, which means I can’t use the intelligent octopus tariff to charge at home.

Taycan went in for a PCM update following a recall from Porsche, and this app hasn’t worked since then. There’s no connection to the car at all, so the app is useless. Uninstall/reinstall of the app, and re-authenticating my account in the car has made no difference. The dealership says it’s a server issue and that ‘loads of customers’ have had problems. I love the Taycan; but this issue shows that Porsche still doesn’t realise that for EVs, digital tech is not just window-dressing - it’s an integral part of the car. The Tesla app makes a mediocre car effortless to use; the Porsche app makes an excellent car frustrating. So come on Stuttgart - give the same attention to digital as to dampers, or risk an avalanche of unhappy owners when the Macan EV launches.

Not the most user friendly

The icons on this app are bizarre. None of them are obvious and it takes a few attempts to find what you want.

User experience is therefore very poor. The charging map search seems to have on off switches but it is not immediately clear whether a switch is on or off. One is white the other black. I suspect black is on but again this is far from clear.

It is quite bizarre that the app has been released with such obvious areas for user confusion. It’s really not that difficult - it is quite easy to make menu selections obvious - phones have been doing it for years. The fact I am questioning which switch is on or off tells you this app has failed user design badly.
