Great recipes made super accessible

We take the paper version of the Guardian on the weekend and Feast is often the first supplement I grab. Until the app appeared I had a huge pile of them with little hope of finding any particular recipe I fancied making. I also get a veg box delivered so I had no guarantee I could find recipes for the contents of my box. The app solves all that with search and like functions. In addition, the recipes stay awake on my devices so I’m not forever logging in with sticky fingers. Really well thought out.

It’s ok, but could be better

I really want to like this app more than I do. It’s not bad, and it’s great having the Guardian recipes all in one place but there’s a few things that could be better.
1 I have the NYT cooking app as well and this comes as part of the NYT subscription. It niggles me a bit that I already have a premium subscription to the Guardian and then have to pay again on top of that for Feast.
2 it needs a facility to save recipes into folders like the NYT cooking app does. When you’ve saved a few dozen recipes there’s no way of sorting them and you have to scroll through them all to find something.
3 when scrolling through your saved recipes, it is far too easy to accidentally unsave a recipe by touching the save/unsave icon. I’ve done this a few times and haven’t got a clue which recipe I’ve just made instantly disappear.
4 the NYT app provides a calorie and nutrition breakdown for their recipes. As I’m paying for this app on top of my Guardian subscription, I would love to have something extra like this as I do like to know when a recipe is low calorie and suitable for 5:2 meals.

Persevering with using app especially as developers have taken note of my comments

All of the comments below still stand for the time being, however at least the developers have bothered to reply to me and these things are being worked on. - I love Feast in its paper form; it has to be the best food supplement across all the UK newspapers- so cannot help but use this app daily despite my negative comments. The Guardian offers such a great service overall as an independent newspaper that I am willing Feast to be a success!

Since my review of 19 April when I first got the app I’ve been using the Feast app and trying to give it a chance to prove me wrong. Sadly there are 2 major issues: the search is asynchronous which means it’s incredibly laggy and dependent on the speed of my connection. Secondly the My Feast area is a good idea but there’s no ability to catalogue my saved recipes - I’ve already saved quite a few and if I continue to do this it will really help to save them under types of recipe.

Developer Response ,

Hi there, we're sorry that you're experiencing performance issues. They've been fixed in the latest update, Version 1.4. Please also ensure you're on the latest version of iOS. Also, thank you for your feedback about cataloguing saved recipes. We appreciate you taking the time to raise this and we will pass this on to our product team to investigate further.
