DB Navigator 4+

Virgin trains in the UK no longer holds the west coast franchise. It is instead operated by Avanti West Coast. I emailed the app developers to notify them of this so it can be corrected but even though the app has been updated at least twice since then it still shows the wrong information. The seem to ignore and even fail to acknowledge useful feedback that will help them make their app better and they just press on and do whatever they want. Could be much better.

It’s a good app, quick to book tickets, and intuitive to use; but it’s seemingly impossible to reset the password for the app itself if you forget it, leaving you locked out when you need you buy a ticket — thus, I can no longer book tickets. Otherwise very handy.

Details: The first reset process requires multiple pieces of information in the app from you (customer number, email, etc.) and then only resets the password - unhelpfully - for the main DB website and not for the actual app (the reset link email generated from DB tells you you can change the mobile app password somewhere on their website - no hyperlink or section provided - but I see no link, in the English mobile DB site at least). Password reset would be much better if a direct app password reset link were sent to your registered email address.

I purchased a monthly Deutschland subscription, but after a few months I no longer required it. Using the cancellation form is easy, but still I have been billed for the next month! Investigating further I see there is no means to review status in the app. Fortunately I did opt for the cancellation to also be sent to my mailbox. However there is no contact us function in the support part of app. Therefore I repeated cancellation of subscription, which the app permits. I have very low confidence in making financial commitments to subscriptions and six weeks after sending cancellation request and still being charged I find the paid for ticket is now cancelled but no refund and no effective way to complain other than to visit a Reisezentrum and join the queue.
