Ratings and Reviews
AppWorks very well, except Volume buttons are needed
The Bose Sleep Buds are great and the app works very well as one would expect from Bose and a product of this cost. I’ve been using them whilst camping this holiday to block out - Loud music and snoring, snoring on its own, and a thunderstorm with heavy rain masked very nicely by the Raindrops track.
The one suggestion I have is that the Physical Volume buttons need to be enabled so that when the app is running we can turn the volume up and down. Its important that the volume is set so that it ‘just’ masks the background noise (snoring). But I find as he level of snoring changes, I like to adjust the volume up or down if I wake up. Having to login to the phone and adjust the volume is a nuisance. Especially for anyone that also needs glasses to see the screen. Just being able I feel for the buttons would be much better! I can see there might be issues that would cause this to conflict and so maybe an option. For it to take over the volume buttons when running might be worthwhile.
Bliss.
The ear buds are a present to help me get an undisturbed nights sleep. I was un-sure they would be useful, and was not keen on yet another app to deal with. Surprisingly found the set up to be straightforward. I’ve not (so far) experienced any problems with charging them, the buds sit snuggly in their case, which shows you when you need to re-charge them. They fit me very well, and stays in place throughout the night. The choice of sounds leaves a lot to be desired. Limited choice. If the volume is increased beyond the suggested point, they all seem to sound the same and not soothing in my book. I’d prefer music along more classical lines, as that works for me. The alarm works very well, in fact you have more choices of alarms, than sounds. They not noise cancelling, but create a cocooned type environment that allows other sounds to become less obvious, which allows me to relax and drift off to sleep. So overall, I’m very happy with them and the app.
Nearly perfect
There are a few features you really want to have if you are looking to pay this sort of money for earplugs to help reduce ambient sounds.
Firstly you want them to cut out as much noise as they can and frankly these are not as good as their full sized cousins, however they are good enough, I use them on long haul flights and I reckon they cut about half to three quarters of the aircraft noises out.
The second feature you really want is for them to fit well and not hurt after a couple of nights and these are a miracle of miniaturisation, they can be worn lying on your side all night. They are the only earplugs I’ve ever used that don’t start to hurt after a few nights.
The other features are related to the app which has some great features, unlike some of the reviews I have found the the app pretty good. The fact that you can download additional sounds to help mask noises is perfect. The kind of stuff that wakes me up, such as people coming back late into hotels, I just set the sounds to play for 45 mins and I generally turn the volume down so that it doesn’t intrude too much and the sounds will mask doors slamming and people talking quietly as they come back at night.
I use the alarm at home if I have to get up early and don’t want to disturb my wife.
I’d recommend them to anyone who travels regularly and gets woken up or struggles to get off to sleep.
