SoundTouch link to wave system

Was bought a wave 4 system by my wife who didn’t realise I actually was looking at the wave SoundTouch system. However after a trip to the Bose guys we purchased a WiFi SoundTouch link and set that up very easily so was able to connect to both Bluetooth and our WiFi system and thus able to use the Bose SoundTouch app throughout the house . Just recently purchased and added 2 of the SoundTouch 10 speakers to the system and after having to update the software on the speakers and the app am now happily listening to music in various rooms at volumes that are controlled either via the app or by the speakers small and neat remotes. I used to be a Sony buyer but have slowly been upgrading to Bose throughout the home for all our sound systems. From in ear headphones for each of us, surround sound micro system for the computer, sound bar for the tv , wave system for general use so am almost there. Excellent service, back up , advise and assistance whenever I have been either into their stores or on the phone to their support lines. Well done Bose. A great company with a great product

Hardware superb, app dreadful

The Bose SoundTouch hardware is superb. It all looks and sounds beautiful, but the SoundTouch app is appalling. Most of the time it cannot find any of my speakers on the network despite the fact that two out of three speakers are happily playing TuneIn radio stations over WiFi having been started via their remote controls. The third device, a WiFi link adapter connected to an older Bose Wave system rarely receives TuneIn stations as it can only be started via the app. I see from the reviews and Bose support forum that this problem is extensive, is reported very regularly (over many years) but still remains unresolved. This is very disappointing. Bose are expensive, premium products let down by non-existent support for the software side of the system. This is so frustrating that, like many others, I am investigating alternative systems such as Sonos. Poor show Bose.

Glitchy app, and appalling customer service

I have gradually built my Bose soundtouch collection over the last few years and it worked fine for a while. Then it developed a problem and customer service has not been able to fix it. when I’m playing music on multiple speakers, the volume just runs away until it is on maximum. Also I installed a mesh WiFi. Now the speakers may or may not appear on the app, as and when they feel like it. I changed the whole WiFi system to Vodafone broadband with their super boosters which is basically a mesh system and still the same problem.

I was passed around for two weeks by customer services who had no idea how to fix the problem and had no interest in actually helping me. The eventually told me to use Alexa to control multi room music which basically means I have paid a premium for wifi speakers which just don’t work, and they are telling me to not use the Bose app to control my Bose speakers. These speakers are not good value for money and do not work as they should. I will be selling my system and moving to Sonos and will be sharing this experience with anyone considering buying a Bose product.
