Transportation??

I understand SEPTA has a shortage of drivers, but can’t they put a notification informing potential passengers? Today I waited 30 minutes for the Route 40 bus to Montgomery Avenue that was supposed to come at 12:30. That bus never showed up. The next Route 40 bus came st 12:50, a couple minutes past its scheduled run. I don’t mind the bus being 5 or 8 minutes late, but half an hour is a bit ridiculous. I am hoping there is a notice in advance telling your customers of any delays. I rely on SEPTA as my primary source of transportation because I am unable to drive due to a disability, so I get very frustrated when I am waiting 15 minutes to half an hour on a bus. Please try to allow your passengers to know if there will be a serious delay of more than 5 minutes it would be greatly appreciated.

New update is terrible

Woke up last Thursday and noticed the app updated to a new design overnight. Since then, I have had to either wait for buses or have missed my scheduled buses because the app is no longer synching up to the bus routes correctly. The “real time” updates are delayed and I can’t tell if a bus is late, early, or canceled anymore. This is extremely inconvenient, especially in the mornings when I have to get to work and now I’m constantly late bc I never know when the bus is actually coming. I’m currently writing this as I’ve been waiting 15min for my bus that the new app told me was scheduled to arrive and it has not. Also, it now takes WAY too long to look up a specific route. Instead of just choosing buses based on their destination, you now need to know if the bus is going north, south, east, or west bound… if it’s my first time taking a specific bus, I’m not going to already know which direction it’s heading. It’s a waste of time having to look it up instead of just choosing the bus based on destination bc the destination is almost always displayed on the front of the bus and on the bus stops.

A frustrating lack of QA on basic features…

The new app immediately told me I was using a temporary password, I wasn’t, it was generated by Apple’s password manager. No matter, maybe it’s a bad error message. Let’s generate a new one. Ok, they didn’t identify the change password boxes properly, whatever, I’ll do it in the Passwords app and copy and paste. What?!?! Somehow my 20 character password isn’t at least 8 characters. Oh, it’s not the length, it’s that it only has 6 before Apple added the hyphen…

Finally logged in, checking around to make sure everything carried forward. I only use Septa a couple times per year. Why is my AMEX identified as a Visa? Can’t change the card type. Better remove it and add back. Wait, the Save button doesn’t work. Apparently you can’t add cards in the app, AMEX at least, and there’s no error message. Guess I need to use the web site. Back to the app, showing as Visa again…

Ok, let’s look for a train into Philly… “No Trip Results”. Super. It doesn’t acknowledge that I live five minutes from a train station and use that as my origin. I’m getting the distinct impression that this feature only works if you’re already in Philadelphia where you’re always near a bus stop.

Hmm, it’s a lot easier to look up schedules now, that feature is pretty nice. Oh, there’s an Alerts tab, that’s interesting. … and the app crashed when I scrolled.

Developer Response ,

Hi Jason! We appreciate your feedback and are sorry you experienced some problems with the new app. We discovered an issue with the password length requirements and have addressed this in an update that is now available. Please try to update the SEPTA app to 3.0.2 and take a look. We're going through all of the feedback and will continue to release updates to address riders' concerns. Stay tuned and thanks for riding!
