Description
A Conversational Adventure™ based on the wildly popular best-selling book, Mossflower - the second in the twenty-two book series Redwall by Brian Jacques
One of a series of six games, The Lost Legends of Redwall: Escape the Gloomer, is created in partnership with Soma Games under license from Penguin Random House UK™ and the Redwall Abbey company™. The Lost Legends of Redwall: Escape the Gloomer is a Conversational Adventure™ game in nine chapters developed by Team Clopas.
Based on the wildly popular best-selling book, Mossflower, and second in the twenty-two book series by Brian Jacques, this interactive tale immerses the Player in the exploits and redemption of Gillig the otter as he tries to overcome his weaknesses, limited resources, and the menace of the monstrous water rat Gloomer.
Before Redwall™ Abbey, there was Kotir Castle, an abandoned fortress built over a large lake near the River Moss. It was taken over by the wildcat Verdauga Greeneyes and his Thousand Eyes army of vermin. Upon his untimely demise, his daughter Tsarmina began her evil rule. Subjugating the woodland inhabitants of Mossflower, this cruel Queen reigned using the army of a Thousand Eyes to collect food tribute from the peaceful forest dwellers. In her arsenal was a very special living weapon. A murderous insane creature kept deep in the bowels of the castle. Captured by her father, Gloomer the Greatrat was rightly feared by all. In these ancient days lived mighty heroes such as Martin the Warrior and Gonff Prince of Mousethieves.
Now our would be champion, Gillig directed by the otter leader Skipper, has been given a very special solo mission. Retrieve an ancient scroll once belonging to Verdauga. On the verge of being exiled from the otter crew, Gillig sees this as an opportunity to prove himself to the otter tribe – if he can overcome his weaknesses.
Your story begins with a descent down a rope into a ruined otter holt near Kotir Castle. What happens next will be totally up to you.

Ratings and Reviews
Great Story
This game is really, I mean really, enjoyable. The story is really well plotted and set up, the puzzles have fun and intriguing solutions, and the voice acting is *chef’s kiss*.
I was surprised when they asked for money to compete to the adventure, but for a story this captivating, $1 is a paltry price tag. If you require more visually stimulating gameplay, this is probably not for you, tho art in game is gorgeous.
I do suggest approaching it more like an audiobook than anything else, but it is required that you use your brain as some puzzles are harder than others.
The Gilligan’s Isle reference caught me off guard, and I was laughing so hard; it’s a shame the voice actor isn’t in on the joke. And, the badger giving you your achievements is fun, but you never get to look at your achievements or see how many there are.
All in all, a worthy redwall adventure!
Seems true in narrative, but low quality.
I was desperate to like this game. I grew up with red wall and read at least 20 of the 22 books. I love gaming in general, and text based games are very under appreciated, so I was incredibly exited for this.
Right out of the gate, the audio quality is HORRIBLE. I’m not talking recorded with meh mic. I mean it sounds like it was recorded in a tin can, a recording was made of THAT recording, and then compressed to heck.
Ok fine, I’ll just turn the audio off. On to the story.
Little bit a saw did seem pretty “Brian Jacques-esque” but the narrative being third instead of first for this type of game is odd.
Five minutes later I’m stuck. I’m in the entrance of this cave, I’ve found a torch that I can’t light, there one tunnel entrance that hasn’t collapsed, and the game won’t let me enter it. I try to tell it too, and just get it reiterated to me where I am.
I tried to rephrase it and be more specific with something to the effect of, walk into the tunnel that hasn’t collapsed....
The game doesn’t have the word “hasn’t” in its vocabulary.
What.
If you are going to limit and can it that way, at LEAST make this a multiple choice text game instead of a typing one.
Even if I did manage to find a walkthrough at this point, it shouldn’t be necessary for the first five minutes of a player that is familiar with this game style. That’s just bad design.
So disappointed, redwall deserves better.
Narrative Genius
I absolutely loved playing the game. It was fairly tricky at first! Although through the amazing art work and hints I was able to escape the Gloomer! It was very loyal to the narrative patterns of the original books that I grew up with. The game makes you think with all of your senses and it is a great way to help develop creative thinking. I am excited to see more games from this company!
