Description

The PARALLEL PLUS® Bible-study app is for pastors, lay leaders, and others actively seeking a deeper understanding of the Scriptures. PARALLEL: up to 8 columns, 190+ versions. PLUS Greek and Hebrew word studies (verse lists, unabridged Thayer/BDB/Schleusner, word families). PLUS exegetic helps (parsings, translation tips). Free, install now.

EXPERIENCE IT: As you read down the column in one version, when you encounter a verse you'd like to better understand, just move your eyes left-and-right to see how other versions express that verse in its context, and then continue reading the chapter. The idea is to introduce as little eye movement as possible, so you can get into the Scriptures and stay there for a while.

BIBLICAL LANGUAGES: See Hebrew and Greek in parallel with other versions. Plus tap any word to lookup the corresponding Hebrew or Greek word and its occurrences. Plus tap any verse to lookup Hebrew or Greek details in a verse: phonetics, parsings, parts of speech, translation tips.

GO DEEPER: Tap any word, then tap “word study” to see: verse lists, lexical entries, and word families. Tap any verse, then tap “verse study” to see verse-at-a-time helps: color-coded parts-of-speech, word forms, phonetics, syllables, and translation tips. It also helps you find familiar Bible verses, even when you only remember a few words; enter "God so loved" in the search box and see where that phrase occurs in every Bible version in your parallel Bible.

PROTESTANT, CATHOLIC: This app automatically aligns verses—by verse content—and displays corresponding verse numbers when different.

COMMENTARY FREE: The act of reading versions in parallel helps readers to understand more deeply. Even without commentary. We feel this is so important that we do not include commentary in our app.

LANGUAGES: Biblical Hebrew and Greek plus English, French, German, Hindi, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, and about 50 others.

Best Bible App In My Arsenal

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed using this app for my more in-depth study. I run it simultaneously with my preferred English version (KJV), Spanish, French, Italian, Latin, Greek, and Hebrew windows for comparison and study. It helps me to see what phraseology enjoys the highest consensus among translators into the various languages. I’m not too conversant with the Hebrew or even Greek alphabets and could hope for an English transliterated (phonetic) window for each but, on the other hand, I suppose it’s good practice to identify the word in OT/NT script. I love the word breakdown in terms of person, voice, moods, tenses (an area where the Strong’s falls flat). This helps greatly to know precisely the intent of a given passage. I have to admit, out of laziness I’ll use another simpler app for most of my basic Strong’s and Englishmen’s searches. I’m sure those features are available with this app but I haven’t bothered trying to find them since I’m already comfortable doing it the other way. I am not a big fan of commentaries and tend not to use them much so I can’t comment on any of those features that may or may not be part of this app. In this connected world I hardly ever run into issues where I can’t use Parallel Plus because of a lack of internet (did this last weekend though, no internet for 3 days). Maybe a fully downloadable paid version based on modules selected would be nice down the road. (John 1:14!)

One of the best apps for Bible study

I love this app. It’s one of the few that doesn’t have ads, just gives different versions of the Bible in different sects and languages. I’ve used it to compare KJV, NKJV, Amplified Classic, Amplified 2015, NRSV, NASB, NIV, NLT, and others. It’s great to compare as many as four or five different versions side by side, because in many of the versions listed, one makes a difference. I think there has been a Bible version that I wished they had (maybe Berean standard Bible), but it has been outstanding. I also love reading it in night or dark mode. It’s easily labeled, you jump to the book, chapter and verse, and boom, you can see and compare all the versions, verse for verse. It will even show you which versions have which verses omitted (the NIV and NLT and a lot of the newer contemporary versions besides the KJV, AMPC and NKJV, and maybe NRSV or NASB have had that). It will also show which have apocrypha (additional books to the Catholic Bible that are not in the Protestant, after the Reformation). Get this app! And it’s free! It also loads quickly. Thank you for making a great app! Please continue to add versions, like the Jewish standard Bible or Hebrew to English translation. Thank you!

This app surpassed my expectations.

The way the application is set up, is extremely basic and simple, definitely needs to be updated in several aspects. However the content itself, once you figure out what book versions to pick from a wide range and variety of past versions in time. Then your choices are your home page and your asked to type your chapter and or verse your trying to compare and it shows the different versions from each book, exactly how they were written to my belief. I’ve found the app informative and useful, and interesting. It’s extremely helpful when I’m trying to under my current newer written bible, making sure I thoroughly understand my studies and receive the correct message and feel a lot more comfortable and reassured with my understanding of each chapter and verse with the help of this useful app. Great tool for bible study, and a broader understanding. I enjoy using this app its one of my main resources or tools I use definitely a must have for me when I’m trying to understand something that doesn’t seem to make sense or I would like to try and figure out the purpose. Please update.
