Could Be Better...
There could be better instructions, but most of the complaints I read had to do with language and connection. I guess they updated the language, because mine gave a list to choose from and English was on it. It connected for me right away, but I’m guessing most don’t understand that you need to connect to the scope’s WiFi network via your phone’s WiFi settings first, then the app connects, I’m not sure. I had a security cam app that connected this way. So when the app couldn’t find the scope, I figured this was the issue. Sure enough, once in WiFi settings, there was a private network available, connected to it and the app connected to the scope immediately.
Now, the problem. The pictures/images seen on the phone screen are barely discernible. It’s extremely dark on the phone screen, where it’s extremely bright on the scope screen. It’s just honestly not feasible to use the app, unless you’ve got shop lights pointed directly on the object being magnified, in order to assist the scope’s LEDs in illuminating a little more. I’m not sure why the app shows an image 50% darker than the screen, but it does and it’s not helpful to take photos with because those are just as dark, as the “photos” taken with the app are screenshots and you don’t get flash on screen shots. One request would be to allow an app screen brightness setting as well. It would be excellent if it had this option IMO.
Functional
The App itself is functional and does support the English language, as well as several other languages. The developer could certainly help some customers by offering an English translation of their App description and updates in the App Store. Although, maybe that’s something that Apple needs to provide, an option to choose your App Store language?
Won’t work without full network access
Why are you giving a
camera plugged directly into your phone access to your local network? Why would some foreign product need access to all your other devices on your LAN ow WAN if it’s plugged right into your phone? Think about it! That’s NOT safe. Why do you give it FULL access to your phone’s library? It doesn’t need FULL access to save a photo. Take a screenshot instead of giving access to some foreign entity all your files and network devices. You don’t think that’s weird? Oh, and it wants access to connect back to their company! Uhh, to send them your files?? Again, it doesn’t need access. If the software needs an update it would get it through the App Store, not directly from the programmers. It used to work without giving it God access but now it won’t recognize the camera. Bad.
