Subscription EV Charging. That’s the way.

These guys are smart and way ahead of the game EVCS offers subscription based charging throughout their network. They are the only ones smart enough to do this right now. This means you could pick one of their 4 plans, things like unlimited charging. Nobody else offers this I really hope that they continue to grow and expand into other states, because here’s a model that nobody’s doing. You have so many networks out there like EVgo, 7 charge at 7-Eleven, Circle K charge, EV Connect, blink, and the link goes on and on, and on all of these guys charge by the kilowatt hour or by time. EVCS that way you have a subscription and charge anytime you want sort of like when you use your Internet at home.

However, the things they need are to expand their network to other states and more locations in the 3 states they’re in, add more faster, charging units to at least 250 kW, and the biggest thing, get the word out! They need marketing because when you’re the only one in a space, you need to let people know about your advantage.

There are a lot of charging companies out there, and as we’ve already seen, there’s gonna be some that disappear and merge with others. I really hope EVCS makes it using the subscription model. If more people knew about it, it could be huge kudos to everyone at this company.

Used to be better

This charging system was by far the best option for high mileage drivers/those using fast chargers >5 days a week. They used to have their unlimited plan for $199 a month and unlimited off-peak(10pm-6am) for $99 a month. I charge fully 1-2 times a day 6 days a week. The off peak plan allowed me to literally make an extra $500 per month driving 50 hours a week for Uber due to the cost breakdown to $25 PER WEEK for UNLIMITED CHARGING! I know more than a dozen people that now are spending an extra $500 a month on the next cheapest option for high mileage drivers. Was great while it lasted. Please bring back something similar to this!

Buggy

The app has lots of bugs. One big bug is that on smaller phones, Register and Forgot Password links overlap, and thus you cannot reset your password. In order to reset your password, you either have to borrow a friend’s larger phone or call support and have them send you the reset link via email. They refuse to fix the app. They just don’t care. Second big bug is app randomly logs you out when using the app, and you cannot log in again, giving you the invalid credentials error. Only solution is to reset password, which can only be done in the app. Why you can’t do it online on a PC or a mobile browser is beyond me. They just don’t care.

As for charging, in Los Angeles they have the best monthly unlimited plans, but… chargers are all 50 kW max,so expect to charge in 60 to 80 minutes. Chargers are also offline often. Chargers also in extremely bad neighborhoods like Wilmington and South Central. There is a huge gap between South Cental and Anaheim where there are no chargers. So few chargers. I suffer because working rideshare I need to save every penny. Only use this charging network if you are desperate.
