Cielo Home 4+

Functional, easy.

First, this is an app that has to work with a zillion third party devices, with no real standard, other than the WIFI, which adds another zillion devices and then the ISP services, yes another zillion, all with their own standards and policies.
Second, this is basically an app that makes your remote control really remote! If your appliance doesn’t have a feature to send or receive from it’s remote, well, this app ain’t gonna re-engineer your appliance.
That being said, this was a breeze.
I am using it with a newly installed replacement Pioneer ductless split mini. The WiFi card was found immediately, and after setting up the account, linked to my unit.
I had to power cycle the Appliance and router in that part of house, and after the requisite number of blinking light flashes all came on fine.
Since this is cloud based, adding functionality to other iDevices just involved downloading app and logging it.
This really makes using the appliance so much easier. I had trouble, season to season, figuring out how to set up the timer function of the old unit. This app allows that easily, with no manual index search.
WARNING, if your WIFI GOES DOWN you loose remote control. If you are running this for a cabin of vacation home, put your router on a timer and power cycle it one a day. Then if you loose connectivity it’s the ISP side, not yours.

Suddenly Worthless

It seems each time there is an app update, I have to reset my thermostat and go through the entire setup process again. This happens about once every 6 months or so. I opened the app today, and noticed, as with previous times, I have to reinstall my thermostat. After going through the incredibly tedious and annoying tasks required, I now have nothing more than an app that crashes. Not only can I not control my HVAC through the app, I cannot sync the thermostat, adjust any settings, nor do anything in the app without it crashing. Suddenly, my WiFi controlled thermostat is no more. I have to get up and push the touch screen manually, like a regular, plain old thermostat. Or I could look around to find the remote to my mini-split and use that of course, all the while admiring the glowing LEDs of the wall mounted and worthless Cielo Breeze Plus “wireless” thermostat. This latest update has rendered the app useless to me, hence no need for the Cielo hardware it is designed to support. I have previously been annoyed repeatedly by this app, I am now thoroughly disgusted. No need for the app or the Cielo Breeze Plus, since they no longer function as advertised.

Better than sensibo

I had sensibo before and it would sometimes not send signal to AC. Cielo has never missed a signal so far. App is good but could improve. Please have comfy button on/off button showing all the time instead of having to click the bottom arrow or bottom esaver tab. It would be a lot easier to turn comfy mode on and off. Also please allow alexa to recognize turning on and off comfy mode. “Alexa, turn off comfy mode in bedroom”. All in all so far satisfied. Oh and geofencing seems to not work properly. Also should have iphone shortcuts.
