Ratings and Reviews
So much potential
Really great technology that’s currently underdeveloped. Not able to display some of the most important metrics for running, like lap pace, so I can’t give it 5 stars.
Improved app makes a huge difference
The latest app changes ActiveLook a lot, for the better. The new data field integration for Garmin still requires some attention to set up, but once it’s done, the connection is stable and the ability to customize your screens is huge. I set up screen 1 for hiit and screen two for recovery, and I can easily see just what I need to see while running. I didn’t expect it would make such a big difference, but using this app with Engo makes me more relaxed and confident because I don’t need to slow down all the time to check my wrist. Didn’t realize I was training with some low level anxiety- now it’s gone. This is an example of how a little thing makes a big difference.
Unusable with poor support
The Engo 2 glasses seem pretty good but
- they need better shielding especially across the top to reduce distracting reflections
- the Activelook module in your field of vision does impede your vision, you can sort of see ‘through’ it but it’s not great
- they have no prescription lens option
The app is extremely disappointing and makes the glasses largely unusable due to how fragile the app’s Bluetooth is. If a sensor temporarily disconnects, the App never recovers (eg if a sensor goes out of range or into sleep mode). So you end up with nothing to see in your HUD! Other times the app looses connection with the glasses and you’re stuck with a static HUD screen with outdated data, perhaps sometimes showing you the searching screen. A reboot of the app may help recover, but not something I’m willing to do in the middle of a serious workout.
Sadly, these issues have been known to the developer for about a year but still they persist. The future is not very bright for this company.
