Registration process:
YONO is supported on iOS 15 and above.
• Install/update new version of App from App Store and open.
• Allow all required permission (location).
• Select SIM of CBS Registered Mobile Number (RMN) and submit NEXT.
• An encrypted SMS with a unique code will be sent from the device to Bank’s VMN (Virtual Mobile Number) to verify the customer. Kindly note that for sending the SMS standard SMS charges are applicable as per your telecom plan. The SIM should have an active outgoing SMS facility.
• If there are multiple CIF's attached with same mobile number, system will prompt for the account number and DOB for finding out a unique customer by the mobile number.
• If the customer is already having online banking facility of SBI, App will automatically prompt to proceed to register on YONO SBI app with existing user credentials (Online Banking User ID and Password). After entering User ID and Password, customer will receive an OTP on Registered Mobile Number. User has to enter the OTP in the app to complete registration with an optional setting of MPIN.
• If the existing SBI customer is not having Online banking credentials, App will prompt to proceed to create INB credential using "Account Details" and "ATM Card" based registration process.
• If Non RMN SIM is selected, user will land on account opening screen. If customer claims that selected SIM is already registered with bank, user needs to visit nearest branch with KYC for updating/ validating the mobile number in bank account.

Well functioning App….But

Dear SBI team. As a NRI its an absolute pain to install this app and get it to work on my international number as it requires mobile number verification. Some recommendations/feedback below:
1. Why does an app needs a mobile number verification. If i have two phones that i carry then i cant have the app on both phones?? Please think this through. Login and OTP (via email and message) is more than enough for security. This will make life easier.
2. The app is too cluttered (less than your website portal) - take note from some of the other international digital banking apps - the best one i have found is Monzo. Its a good idea to be inspired.
I understand its build to be one stop shop for everything but a large population in India is new to digital banking and they are overwhelmed by so many options and things that you could just via your app, in their heads more things can go wrong. Hence less people get onboard. So review your apps UI for a simple experience. (More so for your website it’s appalling!)

Awesome product

What an effort from SBI. Much awaited product and kudos to the team. I have seen the efforts made by the team and kudos to them. Lot of features and well thought product. As with every new mobile app, this also has some technical issues. For starters, unable to login. Please make the Sign-Up and login experience smooth. That is the most important thing about UX. I will give 4 stars for the concept and the effort. After the issues are sorted I will give 5 stars. Also I have many feedbacks and suggestions to give, can you please share an email or something where I can send my suggestions?

Worst Banking App

Huge disappointment, frustration and pain to register being an NRI. I was mistaken SBI is getting better, which does not seem to be the case. You are rather making things complicated for customers by over thinking.
I am an SBI customer since 2003, and have been using the app since it was launched first. I don’t recall how many challenges I came across using the app all these years.
I am trying to register using my RMN since 8 months, it never works. Dumbest app, without any reason of failure or clarity of steps. Does not look like, it was built to make things easier and manageable for customers, rather cause frustration and pain. No one cares about the issues and complaints on the login issues. Importantly, this is not just an issue for NRIs, my parents at home also struggle quite often, as the app just forgets everything and prompts to register again.
Appreciate if your app team can sit back and think through customer pain points and refine the processes and app to resolve the core problems. Hopefully I will be able to register through app in the next few years.
