WeAre8 - The People's Platform 12+

I posted a pipebomb review of this app earlier this year detailing the rage from reviews in November 2021, the solid recovery in December 2021 then the dire straits of early 2022 where advertising was basically non existent. The app was great when it started and I made £12 in 2021 which contributed towards my phone bill, practically almost covering the inflation price index price rise difference of my low cost EE contract for the year.

Now I am pleased to report that the recovery has been slow and steady, about £4 since the doom of early 2022. A lot of multiple 6p quick advertising but it adds up, and so far it’s going some way towards externally covering my low cost Vodafone contract inflation price rise difference (a big difference though thanks to the cost of living crisis drastically raising inflation, but every little helps).

Thank you developers for taking on feedback and improving the app. I see you have more high profile people on board like Rio Ferdinand and TV advertising, which hopefully means more advertisers are on board and more advertising on WeAre8.

Great idea but needs more ads to keep people interested. I’ve basically earned an average of 50p per week since I’ve started - and thats me clicking on almost every single ad straight away. I have notifications on to make sure I see every ad, but this means every time a 6p payment is made available I get a notification, and loads come at once, like 7 in one go which is very annoying if I am doing something else on my phone. I have also been seeing a bug where I click to watch the ad from the notification, but it then says it can’t verify me and I have to go back on the app and click the ad again which is a little bit annoying. However, overall a great idea, easy to use, and I will be sticking with it!

When I first downloaded this app I received a lot of notifications, allowing me to review adverts and provide opinions. That has died off a fair amount. I receive a couple of adverts I would say every 3-6 months. You can’t use the sum you earn anymore against your phone bill (if you’re EE) but I think in total I’ve been able to get £3 off my bill and £7 to my PayPal since I’ve started using. Which has been a couple of years. Not sure it’s worth it. I get a lot of notifications, maybe I’m too old & they’re just not relevant to me, or I click on them & don’t see what the notification has alerted me too. It’s now another social media platform showing videos. Not what I signed up for via EE

Advised to check early for ads.. but I’m not getting up at 2am to get 4p. I get notifications but it’s just notifications to watch viral videos that you have likely seen already. If you want to make extra £. It’s not worth it. However it’s nice when you get to watch a video (once every couple of months) that charity gets paid as well.
