Finally, there’s something for us!
Finally, a language learning app for Gestalt Processors! This app is so effective because it uses Gestalt Processing techniques to teach the language - rather than teaching you individual words and how to construct a sentence, it shows you whole sentences, and gives you those sentences in memorable contexts (spoken by real humans, NOT TTS ROBOTS) so that you can learn how to construct sentences through osmosis. Most language learning apps do not do this, and while the usual approach works for people who prefer to learn words one by one, it creates more work for Gestalt Processors and makes language learning unnecessarily difficult for us. This app makes it so much easier to acquire the target language without all the frustration of memorising individual words, having to figure out how they fit together and inevitably failing! I already feel like I’m acquiring the language after only one session and I will definitely be paying for the premium version. Good job, Uni!
Amazing app
I’ve never written a review for an app before but felt like I really had to for Umi. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for! I’ve been learning Japanese for a while now and my reading is ok(ish) but my listening has always been super poor. I tried listening to podcasts etc. but Umi is a much better gateway to listening practice because it breaks sentences down and builds up progressively.
Thanks a lot for making this app, it is amazing! I was happy to pay for premium 😊
Learnt a lot already!! But weird bug
Ok its been 3 days WHICH i know isnt a lot for learning a language like Japanese. However, ive learnt a lot of letters and how to write them in Hiragana. This app will teach and critique you on; speech, writing and listening. Its great for beginners but theres one issue sometimes the practise sections don’t work and instead the page just turns white. I have to go back to my homepage since theres no way to go back. Its happened a few times today especially on the listening and speaking sections. If it wasnt for this issue which is acc super annoying, i would give it 5 stars. Rip green bird you miiight be getting replaced…
