High quality Japanese learning app

This app is deep.

Only spent a day with it, and haven’t yet fully got to grips with it. But everything about it is well made, high quality, and it’s clear a lot of work and attention has gone into it.

Every kanji has several translations for katakana and hiragana. Stats about its JLPT level, stroke count, Korean and pinyin equivalents, and lots more. You can learn kanji, kanas, reading, speaking, sounds, meaning, and lessons are heavily customisable, so you can learn in almost any way you want.

Interface is well designed and visually very pleasing to work with, and I repeat, it’s so deep and customisable that after a day with the app I still haven’t got a handle on everything that it offers.

I have to admit I’m not sure if there’s a Duolingo-type conversational/sentence type learning lesson structure in there (because again, it’s deep) but there is a free grammar app from the same creator.

And even without that, I’d still not hesitate to give it five stars. Very well-made learning experience.

Love it

So far ive seen no major bugs and i have been doing duolingo and lingodeer for quite a long time and i say that if you have motivation and dedication to learning japanese like myself then this app is perfect for ticking along with vocabulary kanas and the dreaded kanji to master these because everything is set out before you and you can access and learn these at any time. Furthermore the flashcard system provides an easy way to categorise vocab and kanji to learn. Overall a great app and would definitely recommend to anyone who wishes to become fluent in Japanese

Boosted my Kanji knowledge

Update: it now crashes every single time it asks me to draw a character. It’s very frustrating :(

I’m really enjoying using this as part of my mixed method approach. I came to this having already learned hiragana and katakana and some basic Kanji. My understanding of Kanji has measurably improved in just a few days of use. It’s enjoyable to use. The quiz is excellent, I forced myself to use hard mode where you have to type or draw the answer and it’s supercharged my learning. I will say that I’m a dedicated learner and spend at least a few hours a day learning Japanese every single day. It would be difficult to retain if you only work sporadically so that’s where the spaced repetition reminders should help. Great learning tool which is very well implemented.
