Brilliant FinTech
I love most of what tyme bank is bringing to banking in SA. No monthly fees, free EFT, free data purchases, no fees to pay with card, low cash withdrawal fees. Smart shopper rewards, good interest rates on savings, cost effective credit card, more tyme is really useful, as are there new pos solutions and the sole trader business account too. The perfect bank account for almost every person's needs.
Issues I had or points for improvement:
No Apple pay or Google wallet integration
I prefer being able to have all my cash in a savings account where I can partially withdraw when I need some. The savings pots or goals don't allow partial withdrawal, only full.
No in app chat with support staff
A cap on the interest earning savings you can have across your profile.
No easy equities integration or integration with a FinTech broker
No financial analysis of your spend
The app and services crashed over new years and left me at the till unable to pay. A few crashes after that in Jan left me unable to fully trust them as my primary bank. Combine this with the other points mentioned above and it ended up becoming my secondary account and thus will likely end up being closed at some point as I find the cheapest discovery pay as you transact account and their other offerings offer me what I need to have them as my primary account (I had accounts with both banks at the same time to compare and decide which I'll keep). All in all a brilliant FinTech neobank bringing necessary disruption to the sa banking sphere .
PLEASE fix the app, brilliant otherwise
Thank you for creating a fintech bank that doesn’t cannabalise you with fees and for being inclusionary (only fingerprints and ID needed to open account is genius)
please fix your app tho, it’s almost always stuck on loading and i always have to log in via a web browser
Everything else is spot on
Unable to sign up
Absolutely nothing online works in RSA. I’ve made multiple attempts at signing up and it just keeps saying my selfie is not good enough when it clearly is. Then proceeds to ask me security questions that have nothing to do with me and says I’ve answered incorrectly. Useless like everything else “online”
