Description

Introduction

We’ve been around for over 80 years and exist with a social purpose to help our members feel financially secure in later life.
Your financial wellbeing is part of our commitment to fostering financial education. We want to create a society where everyone feels confident dealing with the financial moments that matter.

We’ve designed our app to be a jargon-free zone, written in plain English to guide and educate rather than confuse. It has everything you need (videos, guides, calculators and more) to support you with planning for your future.

How to get started

To use the app, you’ll need to have set up your account with us. It’s quick and easy and you only need to do this once. You’ll need your National Insurance number, customer number, personal email address and mobile number.

What you can do in your app

Once logged in you can:

• Check your pension pot value – and see what it could be worth at retirement
• Check your personal details
• Add beneficiaries
• Combine your old pensions into a single pot
• See how your pension is invested
• Learn more about planning for your future and plan for your retirement
• Get expert help when you need it

Charges

All pension schemes charge members.

At The People’s Pension, we have an annual management charge made up of 3 elements:

• An annual charge
• An ongoing management charge of 0.5% (50p for every £100 saved)
• A rebate on the management charge – we reduce the rate we charge you as your savings grow (the rebate level depends on how much is in your pension pot)

Unlike most providers, we offer our members a one pot, best price guarantee. Even if you leave us and come back with a new employer on a different management charge rate or transfer in other pension savings, your money will stay in the same pot and always be charge at the lowest available rate you’ve had.

To find out exactly how much you’re charged, please log into your account and go to ‘Manage my pension’, followed by ‘Charges’.

Help and support

No matter your query we have a dedicated UK-based team on hand. You can also visit our extensive help and support section to see if we have your question covered.

How we look after your money

To keep your pension pot safe, it’s held in trust. This means it’s completely and legally separate from both us and your employer.

The People’s Pension Scheme (the Scheme) is a defined contribution occupational pension scheme. People’s Partnership Limited is the provider of the Scheme and is part of the People’s Partnership Group, a not-for-profit group of companies which provide financial products and benefits for working people. Your employer is one of many who use the Scheme as their workplace pension scheme.

The People’s Pension is governed by a board of experienced, professional independent corporate trustee directors who put the interests of members, not providers, first.

The Scheme is registered with The Pensions Regulator, the UK regulator of work-based pension schemes. The Pensions Regulator’s aims include improving confidence in pensions by protecting members’ savings and encouraging high standards in the way pension schemes are run.

The Trustee ensures that the Scheme complies with pensions law and the Codes of Practice and guidance issued by The Pensions Regulator.

The Scheme is also registered for tax purposes with HM Revenue & Customs – this gives you a favourable tax treatment on your savings.

Investment performance

The scheme trustee and investment specialists regularly look at how the available funds are doing. The trustee can’t tell you which investment is best for you, but they will do their best to make sure whichever investment you choose is performing as well as it can. The value of investments may go down as well as up, please visit our website for more information: thepeoplespension.co.uk/pension/basics/investments.

Poor UX with easy improvements

Generally does quickly what’s needed, accessing your pension details to see what’s in your pot. What’s really frustrating is every time you open the app you have to watch a silly animation for a few seconds before FaceID kicks in. That’s wasted time. It’s 2024, not 1999. The login session also ends often, resulting in needing to sign back in again. That’s terrible UX. The app should persist login permanently if it’s linked with biometrics.

Almost all I need from a Pension App…

The App is great, responsive and looks smooth. I never used to really check my pension, having an App has made it so easy to check monthly the status and growth of my Pension with you. In a recent update I can no longer screenshot my fund value? I was doing this to track performance, is there a light version of transaction downloads coming to the App to mitigate this?

Nice app, and easy to use

Useful to have my pension accessible on my phone now and find it really easy to use often to check in on contributions. App is so much simpler to use than the desktop experience 👍🏻

Looking forward to seeing what new features are coming next - would love to see more scenario planning for retirement pot size.
