TachyMon was created by the developer for his niece Alex, who was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) in the fall of 2021. POTS seems to be an increasingly common diagnosis, especially for young women. People with POTS often experience fatigue, brain fog, rapid heart rate increases and other symptoms. Alex was experiencing frequent fainting (syncope) and we noticed the fainting occurred when her heart rate increased rapidly, or when her heart rate reached a certain absolute threshold (150 BPM in her case). Alex finds that the TachyMon alerts help her to sit or crouch down when her heart rate is elevated, and this helps her to avoid fainting, and to feel a bit more in control of her POTS.
It is a simple, but specialized app, and we hope it may help others with POTS, or people in other situations when it may be useful to monitor heart rate changes.
APPLE HEALTH
TachyMon integrates with the Apple Health app. TachyMon stores workout information (including heart rate) with the Apple Health app.

HRV tracking
This app is amazing for monitoring my POTS, I find Apple Watch pretty accurate for HR but it definitely has a delay on it . This is excellent for monitoring in real time and I like the other features for average and difference in HR calculations. The only thing is when you have this app running , HRV measurements on apple health don’t seem to work, so I’m not sure how it interferes there , it’s a shame as I find HRV tracking helpful , or maybe it can be incorporated into the app?
good but
overall a good app, kinda annoying you suddenly have to pay a subscription for features that used to be free (would have preferred just additional new features to be premium) but the subscription is a decent price at least (PLEASE keep the price low, being disabled is already expensive enough). Some work could be done on the graphy displayed in app, like being able to scroll along the day and see each individual minutes heart rate (like how you can in cardiogram and apple health). i like being able to see live sessions on iphone now too. overall good, and absolutely valuable when monitoring your heart rate closely but still some improvements to be made
addtional suggestion: notifications on mobile when heart rate alerts go off, i like that theres an option to add iphone haptics when an alert goes off, but not everyone wants their phone to vibrate so a general alert notification would be nice!!
Great app
Very grateful to have found this app and incredible someone has finally created something to help PoTS patients, particularly given the lack of understanding among many healthcare professionals. Whilst there is a paid subscription model, prices are relatively fair and I love that they’ve kept a basic free model so that anyone can benefit from the support of the app (please don’t stop that!)
It’s customisable too so you don’t need to worry about triggering the app unnecessarily as you can set your own stats for the notifications.
My PoTS suddenly got worse post uni and nothing helped much, nor were the doctors very useful. This is the first thing that has helped me feel more in control and given me some comfort, especially with regard to managing syncope.
Thanks so much for developing this app. It was so needed - simple but effective!
