I have been using Stripe for almost 3 years now. It is well documented and the most convenient to integrate that works on many e-commerce platforms. Before Stripe we were having nightmares to find a good and a reliable card processor with plenty of payment options.

Many people (business owners) complain rightfully about their fund being hold by Stripe for a while, this is happening with almost all card processors to make sure everything is legal and appropriate as there are many scammers & fraudsters attempting to engage in transaction processes. All you need to do is to monitor your account for a while and test after integration as well as make sure submitted all relevant document.

When people do not understand reasons behind delays in payments and problems they often tend to accuse the system ;) but systems are there to assist only if you provide appropriate docs, data on time and have right settings. That’s all.

It will also be great if Stripe reduce commissions a bit but they are still among the best options. Keep up the good work.

Fraud

I originally sold a few things through Facebook all of the buyers had received the items and the money had been sent to Stripe. (The orders were completed on Facebook and we had both left reviews).
I logged into Stripe for the first time I tried to collect my money than later found out from other fellow people that I would have to wait months for my money (they where right) , I kept on coming back to my account every couple of weeks but still was unable to collect anything.
it has now been around six months we are now in October and this happened in March all the money was refunded back to the buyers for no reason at all, I am absolutely gutted as there was over £100 in this account. I ended up finding a report to the police for fraud luckily enough they are keeping an eye on the situation and looking out for more reports but I will not be getting my money back , this app has so many good reviews but it’s rather you will have a good experience are a bad experience, I would recommend just using PayPal

Our love-hate relationship.

I’ve been a developer working on an application that integrates Stripe for about 2 years now. We integrated Stripe and off we went. This application is a solid experience but I must rate them as a business, too.

There are MANY things that aren’t made clear when you use Stripe. The most painful are of course the payout times and the fraud prevention steps. By the way, ALWAYS ENABLE 3D SECURE. Anyhow, we’ve lost a few thousand pounds partly due to Stripe, partly due to our own negligence.

There are a lot of people here complaining about the payout times. If they could do it faster right now, they would - they clearly want to. It’s the same with the fees, did you know every card manufacturer takes a fee anyway? Stripe don’t take that much when you add a little bit of context.

Their customer support? I’ve been into the IRC channel and spoke with devs at times. I’ve used the live web chat a number of times and never once have we received bad service.

Stripe are a great company with great offerings, just make sure you read A LOT of their documentation before you use them or you’ll be hit with a few surprises.

The application itself? Great. Does what I need it to do.
