It’s wonderful that you finally updated the app. I made it easier to buy tickets. However, I find it very confusing. I’m not very user friendly. And when I say that I mean the layout. I preferred the block simple layout of the previous app. I found it a lot easier to understand and see my journey. I understand this version of the app will take time to get used to. But I did appreciate the previous app being more straightforward. But I’m glad you’ve made improvements with the payment and also the buying of train tickets.

Once I got used to new layout found it so much easier to buy tickets than the old app. However I could not believe that purchased e-tickets didn’t go straight to the My tickets section of the app. Unless there is something I’m missing?
I had go to my email and then download them to my phone’s wallet. Ok that was a straight forward process but what is the point of having a My tickets tab if the tickets you buy don’t automatically go into it. Seems nonsensical. Why the additional unnecessary step.
Also the option to pay with apple wallet would be helpful.
Due to those two glaring errors I will go back to using Trainline as my purchasing platform and just use the southern app for information.

I use this app to renew my Smart Card flexi season ticket. It’s easy and convenient as I can renew my ticket from home or on the move.

The only downside is that the app is regularly updated and glitches straight after. If you try & buy a smart ticket on this app when it’s just been updated, you will get a message saying it’s not possible to deliver your ticket to a smart card. It’s a known issue but never seems to get resolved. When this happens, the solution is to use a non-mobile device e.g. a laptop or PC to go online and buy the ticket on the Southern website. It’s not a major problem but it’s irritating enough for this app to only warrant 3 stars in my opinion.
