Ratings and Reviews
Amazing concept, feels classic but needs time.
So this app is an amazing concept, it is exactly what I miss about music channels that we used to have back in the early 2000s. Whilst YouTube has the world at its feet for music videos this feels like it pulls nostalgia back so much more easily than what YouTube would do. YouTube has its own agenda which doesn’t give the classic music channel/videos vibe which ROXi does! Whilst pre-made playlists are great some aren’t long enough for example 2000s & 2010s baring in mind this app is fairly new so I imagine it just needs abit more time to grow.
Whilst the app is giving the classic nostalgic feeling it feels abit bulky to use. Having the app for the phone is great but it feels limited and works similar to just basically using the remote only benefit is you can search and select independent songs quicker.
Tracks aren’t always accurate, whilst the artist, artwork and track name seem correct sometimes the version/music video isn’t the original/correct song your looking for. Examples is Lady Gaga - Marry The Night (live not original and also piano cover) I found this with Gwen stefani and shakira on some songs too remixes rather than originals.
Karaoke is ok, track is played with lyrics so not instrumental I guess it’s down to preference on that feature. Yet to receive microphone but the deal currently is a great deal - I heard the mic is made with great quality too comes with mic and speaker; I don’t believe it’s something that needs pairing to the tv which is handy and can be used for more than one purpose.
I don’t believe you should have to have an subscription to make a playlist but that’s the only thing ROXi seems to offer in terms of having a subscription service which makes sense because songs are freely accessible without it (I believe adverts do exist without a subscription but I’m yet to witness that myself it doesn’t seem as intense as other video platforms.)
In terms of making a playlist it seems really long winded it’s a case of selecting the song then adding it, the app sometimes stutters when I do this at which point I’m not sure if It’s added the song or not which now I have duplicates of tracks in my list which I cannot edit my playlist to remove, I can only delete the whole playlist and start again which is very inconvenient; needs some type of prompt that notifies when you’re adding the same track more than once so you don’t have duplicates. They should make songs clearer in terms of song with or without music videos. I also hope they don’t delete playlists when your membership expires because as I said long winded and somewhat bulky.
Overall I think ROXi has potential im enjoying it so far but I do think it needs a little more time to grow, I cannot find songs by timberland at this point but all in good time I hope!
iOS app doesn’t work with karaoke?
Not sure if I’m missing something but when I use iOS to search it doesn’t show the karaoke versions so we have to search on tv anyways. Also for karaoke some kind of queue system would be better than having to wait until each song has finished to search next one?
An excellent addition to the TV App
Makes using the TV program much easier, would recommend for anyone with Roxi
