Roadblock - Content Blocker 4+

Thank you to the developer for this great app. I’ve been using it without problems for quite some time, but recently, I can’t seem to browse a lot of websites unless I uncheck the “Block Trackers” option. Not sure what changed?

Thank you for the feedback. Apple increased the total number of rules that we can use in iOS 15 so we are using additional rules that we used to ignore in the past. The issue you are describing will be fixed soon.

Update: The issues with the "Block Trackers" setting should hopefully be fixed in the latest version (1.9.4). Thanks.

Update: thanks for response. Yes I can invert cookie blocking but I still need a way for rules to share domain lists to make it easier. Also, HTTP cookie stripping is still broken at the moment; it only works on HTTPS. Keep it up and thanks again.

I really do like this app but there are clearly bugs in it. Strip Cookies is clearly not, on HTTP (no security) websites. Turning all media types on clearly isn't stripping everything; I have a custom rule for that. And the ruleset syntax needs to be a bit more freeform if we're to have the power of Safari, for example to whitelist cookies in separate rules by URL pattern, or for whitelisted sites to have media blocked nonetheless. I accept not everyone will want that, and the current arrangement is mostly OK as you can manually, but tediously, achieve the same by other means. Still, please consider matching white and block rules. Otherwise this is a really great app and I will take this on holiday to make my tethering and mobile browsing even sweeter.

BTW, you should allow blocking of "raw" on the media tab to prevent hyperlink auditing.

Thank you for your review and feedback. We will hopefully simplify things even more in the future. For the strip cookies custom rule, try creating a custom rule that applies on all websites except a specific list of websites. You don’t need a whitelist custom rule to override the strip cookies custom rule. All you need is to change the option in the "Apply On" section, which gives you more control and can act like a block and whitelist custom rule in one rule.

The app works really well, the UI is very clear and it’s easy to switch features on and off. Custom rules are really useful. One minor comment would be that it wasn’t especially clear (pre-purchase) to a novice that one subscription covers all devices (Mac, iPhone, iPad). I subscribed and hoped for the best and it was the case all my devices picked up the premium features but might be worth emphasising somewhere :-)
