Obselete?
This software V3.3.6 is now very old and seems not to have been updated since 2016. A current APP version 8.13.1 is available from the reolink site. (This review wriitten in November 2023). I am unaware whether the latest version works with non-Reolink Cameras as all my cameras are Reolink models.
There's always something...!
In general this is a pretty good app with some excellent functionality, well implemented.
However my main peeve is that fro some reason, unlike almost every other Macintosh app, this app does not save the window size between launches. So EVERY time I launch it on my iMac 27 I have to zoom or grow the window to the size I want it to be. Surely this basic functionality is not impossible for the devs to implement?
One other very minor issue is that when you use the firmware update function there is a checkbox that says "Update Configure File" but this name doesn't tell you what this function actually does. Does it save a copy of the configuration file to disk? Does it update the configuration file which was previously saved to disk? Does it replace the contents of the configuration on the device with something else? I am sure there are other things it could do but I have no idea because the text is simply ambiguous.
Finally, it is a big shame that there is no function to check for an updated version of the firmware for a camera by pushing a simple button, and then if there is an update be able to carry it out for you. That would be immensely useful.
Furthermore it would be even better if the app could automatically check for firmware updates when you launch it and then display a flag by any cameras for which there is updated firmware. Maybe it is just wishful thinking, but that would be so great!
Does Not Work Since Firmware Updated On NVR
Since updating my NVR to the latest firmware version, this app just will not connect any more and complains of "Login Error."
I have no problem connectting to my NVR via the Reolink IOS app or via the Web GUI using any browser, obviously using the same login credentials.
I have tried reinstalling the app, checking firewall settings and all the usual trouble shooting.
Typical of Reolink.
