Description

Have you ever gone on a date with someone you found on one of those other dating apps just to find out you have nothing in common with them? Or found the perfect person, but couldn’t start a conversation with them until you matched?

We here at Nerd Alert wanted to create an app where you could start a conversation with anyone. While also providing a safe space for nerds, geeks, misfits and others to be themselves. And unlike those “other” apps, we do not collect your user information in order to just turn around and sell it to the highest bidder.

While going to his first Anime Expo in 2016 Andrew Olson, the creator of Nerd Alert, first discovered the massive community of nerds and geeks. He found that it was the most comfortable he had ever felt in a large group of people. With the inspiration he received there he first came up with the idea of a dating app for nerds.

We genuinely enjoyed making this app for you, and we hope that you love it as much as we do. We know without your support we wouldn’t have an app.

DONT DOWNLOAD

I had high hopes for Nerd Alert, but honestly, this app is a mess. First off, it’s crawling with bots. Almost every other profile is fake or automated, making it nearly impossible to have any kind of real conversation. When I did finally find what seemed like a real person, I was bombarded with creepy, inappropriate messages from random guys. It’s supposed to be a safe space, but it felt more like a spammy free-for-all with zero moderation.

On top of that, the app is super buggy. It crashes constantly, takes forever to load, and the interface feels like it was designed a decade ago. It’s frustrating to use, and even worse, my phone started acting up right after downloading it—crashes, overheating, you name it. I’m pretty sure the app is packed with malware.

Plus, they claim not to collect your data, but with all the unnecessary permissions they ask for, I seriously doubt that. Between the bots, creeps, and security concerns, this app is a total dumpster fire. If you’re thinking of downloading it, save yourself the headache and look elsewhere.

Only one

I set up an account and believe I was the only person on there. Or maybe it is just men that have made accounts, lol! No one to view. I even set the search parameters at their max, still no profiles to view. Shame.
