It should not be hard to make a simple reliable app to connect to a device to do the basics. Not a single car manufacturer has managed this yet. But these devs have buried their egos and just made an app that works. Could it be better? Yeah maybe. Siri Shortcuts, widgets etc would be nice. Working without login would be good but that’s not how the Zappi wants to work, so, okay. But the stuff that works JustWorks. No mandatory upgrades, no splash screens, no nonsense.

PLEASE do not change.

I can see the app is designed to work with Zappi/Libbi/Eddi all inter- operating together. If however you’re like me and you just have the Zappi charger and a non- myenergi solar setup, things get a bit mysterious if you try to understand what’s happening on the charging dashboard. My electric supplier is Octopus and I’m on their Intelligent tariff.
The Zappi is integrated with this tariff. When the Zappi agrees a charging session with Octopus the Zappi dashboard sets itself into Charging mode = eco+ mode and sets Boost mode = manual. WHY?? First couple of times I observed this I overrode the above settings to Fast and Smart thinking these were perhaps more appropriate for an intelligent charge. This action caused the charging to glitch somewhat and although I now know better not to change the settings; there’s not easily obtained documentation on how the dashboard reacts under intelligent charge.

But the settings and web account are so poorly designed.
1. I tried to change the email address for the account but it just said incorrect email. Crazy.
2. Then I tried to delete the sharing with another email account - that seemed to delete some important functions without warning.
3. I tried to edit the nickname for the location but it wanted me to add a county and then said the location couldn’t be added as it was already in use - I was editing the nickname not adding a location.
The user interface for the account is so full of bugs that none of it is now working on my phone so I have deleted the app in the hope I can start again but expect I will have to call them tomorrow as the ui is so opaque it’s impossible to know what to do to achieve your aims.
