Poor Implementation of what it could be

Just feels thrown together and made by someone who never had to use it themselves (as was likely the case). Having to manually reconnect every time is annoying and down to poor handling of different app states. It’s slow to navigate between pages, coffee options are in weird sub menus despite it showing very few things on the preparation menu. Like others have said adding milk to a normal recipe isn’t a thing which seems really daft.

It’s still easier than the buttons on the device for most parts but with a bit more thought this would have been much more pleasant.

Dear customer, thank you for the feedback, we are continuosly working on improvements to our app. In order not to have to reconnect manually every time, you just have to close the app after using it. There is no need to disconnect separately, the connection will be automatically disconnected and will be automatically reconnected the next time you open the app. Please contact our customer service if the problem persists (help@melitta.co.uk). Latest App Update has made the app almost unusable

I have had the app (and my machine) since Feb 24. I have until this update been very happy. I used the machine today and the app had automatically updated. The problem I have is it now wants to talk to me in German, which as I unfortunately don’t speak German is a bit of an issue. More of an issue is the ‘favourites’ selection. I take my coffee differently depending time of day, (just strength). My saved preference a cafe au lait used to open to the adjustments page before selecting ‘prepare’ to begin the coffee preparation. Now since the update it shoots straight to making the coffee. I don’t get the chance to make any adjustment until AFTER the coffee is made, which I assume is an error on the update. I can’t roll back to the previous version (I’ve tried!) and I’ve had to leave this review as ‘app support’ just takes me to the Melitta website. In German. Can you fix this or let me know how to roll back to version 6.5 please! I’ll be happy to amend the review to a better rating when fixed as previously I’d have given a 5/5!

Actually makes the coffee machine worse

This is a seriously poor app. They’ve clearly put more thought into nice colours and pictures than functionality. Even basic things such as uploading favourites to you machine are very challenging. Some obvious things are left out.

For example, on the app, you can customise a drink and save it (this is the only thing worth using the app for). You can save that custom drink as your favourite in the app (so it appears on an earlier screen). You can also upload a “favourite drink” to you machine, however, you can only upload the standard drinks your machine already had, and not a custom drink. This makes the function totally useless!

Update post dev response: Yes, that just shows that it’s poor. The machine can store multiple recipes that follow a preset formula, but not a single one that follows the same formula in a minutely different way. There’s no way the machine actually doesn’t have enough memory, it’s just the memory isn’t being used appropriately.
