Best Mastodon app

Mastoot is my favourite Mastodon app, having tried almost all of them. So many nice little features, the typography and layout is great. Use of current iOS patterns makes it feel so nice to use. It’s getting regular updates which is super appreciated. There’s also a public roadmap and feature request site set up (access it via Settings). And lastly, the app icon is the best of all the 3rd party apps. Great app!

The best Mastodon app

If your phone came with a Mastodon app, it’d be Mastoot. It’s incredibly polished, supports the latest Mastodon features like editing tweets, and it’s fast and rock solid. It’s missing a couple of small things (like showing a list of your server’s emoji when composing a post), but it’s regularly updated and the sheer care the author puts into it shines through. I only wish I could pay for it!

Doesn’t show text descriptions

It’s a great app, and I’d give it 5 stars if it showed the text description of a picture when I touched the picture, as other Mastodon clients do. Text descriptions on pictures are pretty important for Mastodon. But in this client it doesn’t seem to be possible to see a picture’s text description at all. You can create a text description when you make a post and attach a picture, but you can’t see the descriptions of pictures in posts you read.
