LoveJunk: Waste Removal 4+

This is the first time I have used LoveJunk. I found them whilst googling companies to collect dismantled kitchen. It was so simple, I merely took photos from different angles, to ensure everything was captured and enable the collectors to do an accurate quote. For the first few hours bids came in quite high so I waited. I then received a quote that I was happy with and booked. Within two days ( I selected an option to have it collected anytime/any day, as this will help get a reasonable quote, my stuff was cleared up with little fuss. Very happy with the service and will use again. I have already recommended it to friends. A few helpful tips will help you get the best experience. As I mentioned earlier, take plenty of photos from different angles so the collectors can get a true indication of what is there. This saves disappointment if they show up and say there is more than you photographed. Secondly, if you’re flexible on when it can be collected, select that option, you will get cheaper quotes. And lastly, don’t be surprised with high quotes that will come in first, don’t give up and wait it out. My original quotes were £600 £350 and then finally £200.

Saw this by chance when trying to get rid of a Wicky play frame which I assembled for my grandchildren almost six years ago in our garden. The grandkids and their friends and cousins had a great time playing on it but they have now outgrown the frame. It was still in good working order and I offered it for free within the neighbourhood. I had no takers and before taking the chain saw to it I looked for ways to get rid of it for use by other children. I found the app and it worked perfectly for me. I received three offers within half an hour. I selected the cheapest, contacted the contractor through the app, arranged date and time for collection and was very happy to see the play frame taken away by friendly and efficient people. I think the concept behind this app is brilliant because it allows reuse of items rather than them ending up in landfill and it takes care of the headache of transporting heavy and large items.

I posted my job and had a response within a couple of hours. The company that picked up the job was less than half the price of another company I had approached directly outside the app, so it seems the “name your price” idea and ability to connect to loads of collectors at once worked well for us. I also liked that the companies who use the app are all licenced too. So, really easy way to connect with reliable providers. My only downside was that the app was not clear on how payment would work. It says money is held on your card, but they had no card details and I was worried I was going to be asked to pay cash. That did not happen though. Once the job was done, the collector company marked it as such on the app and the app then gave an option to pay by Apple Pay. I suggest the developer makes this a bit clearer to users. All in all, I was pleased and would use this again for jobs too big for the council.
