Golden Oldie

This a wonderful version of a great game. Somehow I missed it first time around (but I did spend a lot of time playing dungeon on a VAX 780 in the early 1980's - that also used Zorkmids). The game is much too hard for most tastes, you can be killed very easily and death is final. But satisfyingly you can hack the iPad version by using a tool like iExplorer on a PC to copy the save game file to your PC and then restoring it if you happen to die later. (The save file is only created on the iPad when you exit the game alive by returning to the home screen). This hack was much used in earlier times and in my view makes for a much better experience for novices. You get a chance to figure out and experiment with ways to overcome obstacles. This approach is regarded as cheating by hard core nethackers. If you want to release your inner nerd - give it a try!

Super old, super hard, super fun.

There is so much to learn in this game, from dealing with countless monsters to finding all sorts of strategies to find the Amulet of Yendor and win the game, there is plenty to keep you coming back for more, who knows when I and others will beat it, but with a classic roguelike such as this, it will never get boring.
