iDoceo Grade Scanner 4+

Really looked forward to using this, in reality I was a little disappointed! The concept is amazing and is easy to create classes from idoceo and export them into Scangrade! The printable questions with names are simple enough to print off! Got the class to complete a recap test, and then had big problems trying to get the question sheets to scan! When they do scan it is quick and instant results, when they don’t it’s massively frustrating!

I have migrated to this app from ZipGrade due to being locked out of ZipGrade after GDPR in EU and UK countries. ZipGrade was a revelation - instant scanning, quick and easy corrections where necessary, and you could scan sheets from a range of tests and classes in one go due to truly individual student and test numbers.

This, on the other hand, does none of those things. Like another reviewer said, getting it to actually recognise a paper takes several attempts, drastically increasing the amount of time it takes to process a set of tests. Also, students are allocated numbers within a particular class rather than as a whole data set, meaning that if a whole year group has sat a test, you then have to sort back from alphabetical order into individual classes. Finally, I can’t make head nor tail of how to correct mistaken answer recognitions, and correcting the student number is impossible.

I would recommend the developer enables pdf import of a set of scanned papers and updates the database system to something more professional. For me the damage is done and I’m stuck taking ages to process this year’s end of year papers. Lesson learned!

I just tried this out with my first class. It took a while to re-write the assessment to fit the multiple choice style, but then I marked 29 students x 2 assessments x 36 questions each= over 2000 questions and I managed to do it in less than 30 min, while students were doing the written part and by the end of the lesson they all got their assessments back and I had them in my idoceo mark book! I check the scan of each assessment and with this app it is very quick to make amendments eg if students have crossed out answers or not written clearly enough.
