Hammerhead Companion 4+

Point 1 - no good that the Karoo 2 isn’t included. I had one. Whoever heard of a unit not having the hardware for the app?!?
Point 2 - having now bought the 3 (primarily for the improved battery life but also the app) I discovered just how early the app is. Hammerhead are taking agile to the edge. The ux is non existent. So much so I thought I was doing something wrong. I contacted support to say I have connected but nothing happens. After the normal back and forth I realised it’s more like a dedicated link between your device than an app as they sent me links to instructions. It does almost nothing and you do most of it on the device.
It’s really really basic. It should be labelled early beta. I am sure hammerhead will produce a great app in time but rookie mistakes (karoo2 compatibility and the ‘non’ app).
Hammerhead I am still a convert from wahoo and I love love love my unit but not great.

It would save us Karoo 1 and 2 owners a lot of wasted time if Hammerhead indicated at the start of each notification about updates etc whether some, all or none of it applies to us, instead of burying it inconspicuously down at in the back end of the post.

That way I could just bin most without reading them.

I wasn’t that impressed with the Wahoo os compared to motoring gps units, but it seems stellar after I spent about 4 hours this week following the instructions to sync the Karoo 2, only to eventually find I needed to disconnect and reconnect the Ride GPS and Komoot apps first.

I’d like to upgrade to a better nav unit than the ELEMNT Bolt as its screen is too small, but so far the Karoo hasn’t been the answer.

And I wish you, Garmin and Wahoo would stop dreaming up your own terms to name essentially the same function and make it clear in instructions whether entries are for the GPS unit or the App.

This is shocking that we finally have companion app and it dosnt work with legacy Karoo 2’s. I had hope this would fix heart rate data to Apple health but looks like have to look at alternatives
