Description

Genomapp helps you discover the information in your DNA by connecting it to reliable scientific sources. Our app analyzes direct-to-consumer genetic tests and presents the findings in a simple way.

Have you taken a DNA test? Did you know your genome has a lot to say? Want to learn more about your DNA? It is easier than you think.

If you had your DNA tested by a DTC genetic testing provider such as 23andMe, AncestryDNA, FamilyTreeDNA (FTDNA), MyHeritage, Genes for Good, Living DNA, or Geno 2.0, you will have access to a file containing your genetic data (raw data file). When you process this file with Genomapp, our app matches the DNA you entered to a categorized list of conditions.

*** Ready to start?

Genomapp has a Demo mode. If you want to try the app or learn how it works you can access it and test a fully functional version of the app.

*** What does Genomapp offer?

Genomapp offers 3 reports for free and 3 reports will be provided after payment.

* Complex Diseases (Markers associated to multifactorial conditions that are the result of multiple genetic and environmental factors interacting.)

* Inherited Conditions (Markers related to diseases that are caused by mutations in one gene)

* Pharmacological response (Drug-Marker associations)

* Traits (Characteristics or attributes expressed by genes and/or influenced by the environment)

* Observable signs (Markers related to physical problems or signs that a person experiences)

* Blood Groups (Markers related to antigenic diversity of human blood group systems)

*** Not Diagnostic

Please note that Genomapp is NOT for diagnostic use, it does not provide medical advice and is not a substitute for it. Consult your health care professional if you have any questions.

*** Privacy

Protecting your privacy is Genomapp's primary concern.
At Genomapp we work for the people, we do not share genetic data with third parties and We do not trade on what is unique to each person.
Your data remains in your device and is not stored or uploaded to our servers.

*** Certification

The app has been reviewed by mHealth.cat Office (TIC Salut Social Fundation). This means that the quality of the content and the usefulness of the functions it incorporates have been evaluated and that it meets the quality and reliability requirements.

*** Our Database

Genomapp's search engine allows you to search our database of more than 9500 conditions, 12400 genes and 180000 markers. We have the most comprehensive list of diseases from official scientific sources, including breast cancer, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. We also have markers for tumor suppressor genes such as BRCA1/2, PTEN and P53.

*** Easy to understand

Genomapp displays information of your DNA markers in a friendly and easy to understand way. Export your personalized genetic reports to PDF and take them everywhere.

*** Your DNA test provider is not on our list?

We are constantly adding support for new DNA test providers. In addition to files from the most popular DTC genetic testing companies such as 23andMe or AncestryDNA, Genomapp supports genetic data files in VCF format and files with a specific scheme. Currently, VCF files from WES/WGS are not compatible with Genomapp.

Really good and informative

It’s now been about a year since I got the app and I still use it. I imported my 23andme data into it and it been really useful. There has been a few updates over the year, each one improving the app a bit more.

Approach with extreme caution.

This flagged BRCA 1 gene for me. A further more in depth test ruled thus out. The company who conducted the in-depth Breast Cancer Gene Panel for ne described the report generated by the Genomapp app as amongst the most poorly written and confusing they had ever seen.

The Genomapp report stated that I had two copies of a pathogenic variation in a point in the BRCA1 gene. The other genetic testing company informed me that two copies of a pathogenic gene at that point would mean I would have never developed fully as embryo, been carried to term and then been born. It’s basically impossible to have two copies and survive til birth. One copy of the variant would be considered pathogenic. As it turned out with further testing I had no pathogenic BRCA1 variants. This makes me think there are deficits in the construction and design of the reports and not just a mistake in the original test.

Update after developer response:
The developer has missed the point, It is medically impossible to survive until birth with two copies of that marker. So even if the error is in the data rather than the report, that should have been picked up as an error rather than merely flagged as a pathogenic marker. Hence the title “Approach with extreme caution”.

Developer Response ,

As we discussed by email, there is a genotyping error in your provider's file for that marker.

Misleading results giving people health scares!

The app gives results which are hard to interpret and comes across in a very misleading, shock-factor kind of way.

For example, getting DNA results that implies you have AIDS, and no other supporting info. When questioned on their data models (as I definitely know I don’t have AIDS) they reply that this result is only relevant if you actually have HIV/AIDS. They definitely need to add some context to that particular result if that’s the case! Numerous examples of this type of misleading info in my results. Seems like a half-baked/assed app designed to generate some money.

Developer Response ,

Firstly, please note that Genomapp is not for diagnostic use. The app provides all types of associations with scientific literature so that the user can consult relevant information. Indeed, many users have found interesting associations. Users that don't have AIDS can simply ignore results related to that condition.
