EchoLink for iOS provides access to the EchoLink network for validated EchoLink users. You can use this app to connect to the EchoLink system from almost anywhere, using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
If you are not already a validated EchoLink user, you will be required to register (using your Amateur Radio callsign and a password of your choice) the first time you run the app. Please see the iPhone FAQ at www.echolink.org.

speaker on iPhone?
Is this version supposed to work with the internal speaker of the iPhone or just the telephone ear piece?
I ask because I am unable to get the received audio to come from the speaker, I have to use the iPhone like a telephone as a result and the received audio is too low despite the volume being turned full up.
It would be great if the audio would come from the speaker instead of only the ear piece of the iPhone, but I can find no setting to switch between telephone earpiece and the iPhone's speaker.
The FAQ's on using the iPhone appears to suggest there is supposed to be an icon to the right of the volume bar in the QSO window, this icon does not exist. I assume this is due to my iPhone using version 5.01 operating system and Echolink 1.1 is no longer 100% compatible with the latest iPhone firmware update?
My iPhone is an iPhone 4, 32gb, operating system 5.01.
Help anyone?

Amazing!!
I didn't spot this straight away but it's a really handy way to have QSO's when you don't have any 'real' radios with you. Time before meetings, in hotel rooms is much better spent now thanks to this app!! I've also tested over GPRS and the audio stream keeps up no problem ensuring maximum possibilities! Not sure how this app could be improved really - remote PTT perhaps?! Oh and Bluetooth headsets/handsfree make life much easier!
Great app but dated
1. Great app but could do with an update to the UIX. The interface looks like Windows 95.
2. Some basic features would make the app much more enjoyable - creating various “Favourite” lists, blocking (always appearing busy) to some call signs etc.
3. Could take it to the next level by auto generating an eQSL card and sending it to the receipient!
