CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor 4+

Context: partner and I share the same account, and travel frequently with the monitor. It’s our only baby monitor.

Pros:
- works well enough to be our only baby monitor
- lovely and useful to be able to view recordings especially now the kid is sitting and standing
- great to be able to view over the internet- I can take a turn monitoring no matter how far away I am from home

Cons:
- safety issues: the app does not raise a notification if WiFi connection to the camera drops. This is a known issue for nearly a year, I raised it, and it has not been addressed.
- very poor WiFi setup process => travelling and connecting to new WiFi is possible but painful.
- there are no attachments for the camera which make use with a travel cot easy; the floor stand is too bulky, we rigged up our own clip on solution
- the software is, in general, pretty buggy: at one point our camera simply wouldn’t connect to WiFi any more. It took support 2 days to fix and the issue was on server-side. We nearly had to buy a new baby monitor as we without for a night (just slept in same room that once).
- audio is poor: there is a high level of white noise on the audio stream, making it annoying to have on in the background (of course, this is with respect to the app being used in default setting ie no noise being emitted by the device!). This again is known as I’ve submitted the issue, but no fix is possible.

We love Cubo and have been using it for 9 months now. I think it has come a long way from the earlier reviews here and I honestly haven’t experienced any problems with it. The quality of the camera is amazing and the sleep analytics and video playback are so useful for sleep training as you can track the patterns of how and when your baby sleeps. The built in temperature and humidity monitor is really useful and helps me decide what to dress baby in at night. I also love how it takes little snapshots of our baby throughout the day, so cute! The built-in white noise is very handy (we use the electric fan noise and it keeps baby asleep). Compatible with all devices which has been useful when my mum has babysat for us etc. We also just bought the Cubo sleep sensor pad which monitors baby’s breathing - so far it’s great and we bought it to replace the Angelcare baby sensor which would constantly false alarm and wake everyone up! Cubo is expensive, but you get what you pay for and it’s worth it in my opinion for the peace of mind.

I find Cubo to be a fantastic product in almost all areas, but the connection to the wifi is exhausting. Everything else in the house will stay connected to the wifi, but the app will regularly disconnect and often in the middle of the night. This means I don’t hear the first stirrings of my baby, and instead awake to full blown crying by which point it takes a lot longer to get her back to sleep. In every other sense the app is fab- aesthetically the Cubo is gorgeous, I love that it captures photos, I love the sleep analytics (though find it unfair that I have to upgrade to see more than the previous night- I don’t need trends, I’d just like to swipe through and say ‘look at this night last week’ without having to screenshot every night!) and I like the alerts. But spending half an hour at 3am trying to reconnect the app in the dark with a sleeping baby in my arms is not the one. And the technical advice is frustrating- the language used is VERY technical, and I’m assuming I’m not alone in not understanding all of it, so in the end it isn’t incredibly helpful as I can’t fathom how to even begin to follow it!
