Very hit and miss-can leave car uncharged

When it works, it does save money. But I get constant phone notifications overnight because it seems to start then stop charging every few mins. But sometimes it just doesn’t charge full stop and you only find out the next morning when you get in the car-the app itself doesn’t tell you that it has failed to deliver the charge despite being clearly programmed to deliver by the set time. Like others, I have then had to reinstall it after it hasn’t worked for a few days. But trying to reinstall takes a couple of days due to error messages on attempts at reinstalling. But I apparently have saved about twenty quid in just 2 weeks of faffing about with all this!!

This didn’t work and I have left OVO

Smart charging for entire July wasn’t recorded and I didn’t get the credits that would have been due.

I had reached out to customer support notifying them that my smart sessions were not recorded. Was told that there had been an issue in their side but that the sessions had been cached.
Smart charging continued to not be working. Reached out to support again and then I was suddenly told that there seemed to be a connection problem on my side and they couldn’t reach my vehicle to manage the charging sessions. this was (according g to their T&Cs) not their problem.
Note that absolutely nothing had changed on my side. Bottom line was that I didn’t get my smart charging credit for July and have left for Octopus energy that gives me a lower rate when charging at certain night times. That’s not as smart but works since I don’t have to use a third party app (this one… ) to control the charging.

Game changer

Charge anytime works seamlessly with my MINI electric and I think this is an absolute game changer for the transition to electric vehicles. The benefit of having a cheaper tariff for your car and standard rate for your house is definitely the way forward. This allows you to get a standard rate for your home unlike other tariffs which have an increased ‘peak-rate’. Also allowing OVO to charge your car when the grid is greenest and less demand. This will save me around £700 a year compared to my standard tariff and because I work nights I can charge at cheap rate during the day too! There is a slight discrepancy between my energy usage shown on the app and actual usage but I’ll keep an eye on that.
