Ratings and Reviews
Helps make it easier to print
Much easier to select files from the app on phone than on the small touch screen on the printer. Connects well to the printer and communicates from another room. I use my phones hotspot as wifi and select it from the printer screen. App is easy to use, can print pictures and crop, print documents, make collages, have templates ready to print without doing anything. Can access OneDrive documents that are saved even without the app installed by just logging in or the files folder with iCloud on iphone and others. I’ve found it easier to use the app on the phone than printing from the laptop, just by saving the files on OneDrive as I can access them anywhere. Really handy app and even offers manuals when errors occur such as paper issues and figuring out how to place it in. Deffo recommend using, just make sure the printer is on when trying to print otherwise it won’t work as it won’t connect. Enjoy :)
Idiots guide required
I have had this printer for well over a year. Bought due to isolating at home and needing to print off documents.
The set-up of plugging in and linking to internet was straightforward although it wouldn’t link wirelessly.
Then came the problems. No matter what I tried I couldn’t link to iPad or iPhone.
Canon recommendation was to put disc in computer - I have no computer nor access to one due to isolation.
On behalf of other printer users who may also have similar issues; please create an idiots guide for simple ‘How to print - emails, photos, documents’ and please don’t use acronyms.
After much hair pulling frustration and pushing of buttons I finally managed to print a photo a week ago.
Now I have been able to print off essential attachments for upcoming travel, thankfully, as my next step was to recycle printer.
That said the prints are of reasonably good quality as backup in case internet down for travel documents.
There are likely more settings to further improve quality but at present that is a step too far for me. Will settle for now after a year of considering whether I would keep the ornament in the livingroom
Not fully Apple Compatible
Please tell me, what the heck is the point of having a Canon Apple app.. when it cannot even print Apple Pages documents?? This app is hopeless! Oh, sure it can print Microsoft documents.. but this is a flipping APPLE device, not Microsoft? I want a proper APPLE capable device if it’s on the Apple Store. Not something designed for Microsoft. How useless is this!
The only option I have is to frigg around converting every document I want to print into a damned PDF before I can print it. Is this supposed to be some kind of advancement? If you’re selling a device to be Apple compatible, then at least make sure the software is designed to work!
I used to work for Canon 35 years ago when they invented the first lazer printer and their stuff was leading edge, but over the last 10 years their consumer printers have been very sub standard, plus their software and instructions even more so. Just not intuitive. Sadly the next printer I get isn’t likely to be another Canon. I want something that WORKS with my Apple Computers!
