Description

The only butterfly app including all native species of the British Isles & with an In-app you can upgrade your app to identify butterflies by simply taking a picture!

Butterfly Id will help you quickly and easily identify species through the Id key and through photo recognition. Butterfly Id is great fun to use. Identification can be enjoyed by the whole family. For the enthusiast there is anatomical, ecological and taxonomic information too.

Butterfly Id can be used to keep a log of your sightings making it easy to build a record of all the butterflies you've seen.

In contrast to other apps Butterfly Id covers all species with hind- and forewings illustrated!

Butterfly Id has been created by professional published ecologists, and uses images selected with the specific aim of aiding identification.

SUNBIRD apps appear in Countryfile's top 10, and have been described as "incredibly useful" by ITV's Seth Conway and "lovely" by Adam Vaughan of the Guardian.

SUNBIRD field guides are the only products on the market that use the KUSAM species identification methodology. This state of the art method is a modern taxonomic keying system designed specifically for use on mobile devices.

The app does not need an internet connection, all content is downloaded when the app is purchased.

Butterfly Id

I find these apps are so useful when out and about. So often I see something and wonder what it is at times I wouldn’t normally have a guide with me - on bushes in a supermarket car park or inside the local cafe. I have failed once or twice but put it down to user/observer error as the likelihood of my finding something too rare to be included is remote. I haven’t got all of them but they certainly make taking the dogs for a walk more interesting.

Always available

“The best camera is the one you have with you” is an adage for photographers. Likewise the best reference book is the one you hold when you see something for the first time. I usually have my mobile to hand when out and find this series of apps very handy for identifying flora and fauna. This enhances my exploration of the countryside. It’s like having a knowledgeable companion for company.

Great Teaching App for the Curious.

If you are like me and don’t know one butterfly from another then you must get this app. I am a long distance walker and found it frustrating to see beautiful and plain butterflies and did not know what I was looking at. I like nothing better now than photographing one and then identifying and recording my sighting. Get it!!!
