Must Have for Book Lovers
Absolutely amazing app, very user friendly, I love that you can set up your own bookshelves to show where everything is. I love this app so much that I spend all day yesterday scanning all my books in (only 4 didn’t scan)
I do have a couple of suggestions though:
- I know someone else commented about having a word count and the developer responded saying that the databases they gather the book info from don’t have that information. My suggestion is a box where we can add the word count manually, if we know it, somewhere in the notes section?
- I like that you can pick your currency and add how much you bought the book for, but I have bought a lot of books while on holiday so I was wondering if you could add a box that says country purchased to then have different currencies depending on where you bought it or just be able to pick the currency per book?
My only requests
Firstly, I have never come across an app that does not support Split View, is understand not supporting stage manager but lacking the most basic device level functionality of being able to multitask is unacceptable imo. This is a basic functionality that *must* be implemented. There is nothing in the design of this app that requires it to be full screen at all times. This is an insane decision for me. This is an absolute dealbreaker. Once this is implemented I will happily amend my review and happily pay a monthly sub over a lifetime purchase to support the app. But this basic functionality must be implemented.
Secondly, As a strictly e-book only reader I would really love an option to filter the book search somehow, quite often there are many copies or editions of the same book and having to manually tap into each one to see if it’s the e-book one becomes quite time consuming, I’m lucky if I find one at all which I appreciate isn’t the fault of the app itself and instead the API it pulls data from, but it would be 100x faster to know whether there is no ebook version if I can set a filter or preference for e-book only in the search feature. A wonderful app otherwise, privacy friendly, incredibly reasonable price point with a one off purchase option as well as a subscription, well designed and overall nice to use.
So much better than the spreadsheet I was using!
I got back from several years of international travel and so wanted to build my physical book collection back up as well as the ebook versions. Of course this meant a spreadsheet to keep track of the deals and parts of series on ebay. I wish I'd had this from the start.
Two suggestions.
Can we have shelves in the wishlist please? And far more complicated. Could we have a borrowing system between friends please?
The current following system is great for seeing what you want to read next but if I borrow a book from a friend, I'm scanning it myself and then making sure to say that it's borrowed. It would be really cool to have a button that autopopulates the book details for both the borrower and lender after confirming a request to borrow a book. Thanks for the wonderful app!
