Ratings and Reviews
Not what I expected but decent
I expected this to rate accuracy of timing. But it rates the accuracy of your sequence of taps. That is good in terms of flexibility to interpret beats as quarter, eights and sixteenths for ease of practice. The sound latency for the pads is very, very notable so I turn the pad sounds off. I don’t mind that at all. The metronome sound is useful. I’d like to see: a correct phrase repetition count (Stick Control style!)- maybe an auto advance after X number of repetitions too. Adding flams and maybe fivelets. MIDI input :-) I’m using my index fingers. A bit of guidance on how beats are intended to be articulated on the glass practically would have been nice. Cheers.
Developer Response ,
Thanks for your feedback! To clarify on the touch dynamics, I was using Apple's 3D Touch functionality to detect the pressure strength of a user's hit to determine if it should be a ghost note, standard hit, or accent. However, Apple has since replaced 3D Touch with Haptic Touch in most of their devices which eliminates the ability to detect the pressure strength of a user's input. To circumvent this, I now calculate dynamics based on the size of the user's touch. The smaller the input the lighter the hit and the larger the input the heavier the hit. Using the tip of your finger/thumb should produce a ghost note, an average touch should produce a standard hit, and your whole fingerprint should produce a heavier accent. Admittedly, it is not a perfect solution compared to the old 3D Touch dynamics and users could certainly benefit from guidance on these mechanics. As for your suggestions, accuracy of timing and correct note streaks are currently in the works. You can expect to see these in future updates once they are ironed out. I appreciate your support! Cheers
