Description
The venerable U.S. weather app Wx, named a Mac Gem by Macworld magazine, has been reinvented! Wx displays current conditions, forecasts, warnings, and radar for U.S. locations using high fidelity XML data from the U.S. National Weather Service. The app is designed for two specific types of customers: serious weather watchers who want detailed information and facts with no fuss, and casual users who want a fast, clean, and functional weather app.
Wx lets you set up locations on an embedded map, guiding you to choose nearby NWS observation sites (over 1700 available in the U.S. and its territories), nearby NEXRAD radar sites, and nearby city- and county-based alert zones. The app sets up a 7-day summary "point" forecast customized for the specific latitude and longitude of the location, and a 7-day “pro” forecast that graphs temperature (actual and apparent), dew point, relative humidity, cloud cover, wind speed, wind direction, gust speed, 12-hour probability of precipitation, 6-hour liquid precipitation amount, and 6-hour snow amount. Wx’s pro forecast is also latitude/longitude based, and is about as good as it gets if you need to plan work, sports, and outdoor activities based on upcoming weather. With their high spatial resolution, the point and pro forecasts are especially useful in coastal and mountainous regions where typical zone forecasts can be inaccurate. These forecasts are backed up by a regional text forecast bulletin for additional information.
Wx also lets you bookmark and setup weather maps for quick reference. Choose from over 40 default NWS maps and images, or provide the URL for any map of your choice and load it right in the app! If you have preferred weather providers or use a private weather service, you can load your favorite maps and images right in Wx and keep them handy. Other features of Wx include a display of weather conditions in the dock icon, seven day sun and moon phase information, and a high performance radar display with five types of radar on a zoomable live map.
Wx is crafted with attention to detail by an award-winning professional software developer with 32 years of experience, 20 years focused on developing software for Macs and 15 years writing apps for iOS devices. Wx has been reinvented from the ground up. Under the hood, Wx has all new download and processing engines, and is faster than ever. It's more reliable than ever too, offering multiple levels of redundancy to handle severe weather events that can strain NWS servers.
Wx is also available for iPhone and iPad. For more info, see hrtapps.com or look in the iOS App Store.

Ratings and Reviews
Five stars - still easy
My comments from 2011 still hold true. I use this app daily relying on the graph feature to best anticipate hourly changes. In Maine that is of great value, especially during the “cusp seasons” changing from winter to summer and back again.
The other use I put WX to is for travel when I set my itinerary I can track weather on the fly. Very convenient.
Yes, there are skads of weather apps, it’s just that this one is the one that I find most useful day in day out. I have several others, but when it comes down to it, WX is the one I open, everytime.
Weather forcasting at it's best
Wx has been my method for checking weather on my phone. I just starting using it on my PC, love the diffent ways to view the weather. The charts on the PRO section give a quick overview of weather conditions and the text section gives the details for the current and upcoming weather. I like that I can customize the maps to view what is important to me. Overall a very nice app for weather news, I love it!
Outstanding WX app
Wx has been my default weather app for many years. I have it on my iMac, iPhone and iPad! As a retired pilot, I have a special interest in weather apps and have been disappointed with most of them. Wx is the best one, is easy to use and can be personalized for desired locations and NWS maps. Craig is always very responsive to any questions or issues!
Most highly recommended!
